"Junior and his team are simply SPECTACULAR. They are professional, honest, prompt, and thorough, and whether you need interior painting, exterior painting, drywall repair, or staining, the quality of their work is far superior to the competition. Junior is a perfectionist who takes great pride in his work, and his work is flawless. He takes the time to do things right. If you have an older house like ours with cracks and sags in the ceilings and walls, he will leave it looking brand new without a single imperfection and with an absolutely smooth surface of paint. I would like to add to what I said there by describing the quality of his work on a recent job that involved renovating our oak staircase. The sanding involved the use of both a small electrical sander and hand sanding to ensure that every area of the steps – the tread, riser, newel post, inner and outer string, balusters, and fascia – was completely and evenly sanded. He repaired damage to the wood in various areas of the steps making them look new. We decided to have the treads stained red mahogany and the strings, risers, fascia, and balusters painted black. As usual, Junior used extreme care, including taping all areas that needed to be protected when painting the railing and risers so that the newly stained treads did not get paint on them. The combined effect of the staining and painting was spectacular. The stained treads look rich, even-colored, and like new. The oil-based black paint that was expertly applied to all of the other areas of the stairs highlights the beautiful wood grain. Junior did not leave a single paint drop anywhere, and the lines that divide, for example, the treads and risers, are razor sharp. In sum, if you have oak stairs (or any kind of stairs) that you value and want expertly and beautifully refinished, stained, and/or painted, Junior is your man. I would not trust my stairs to anyone else."

I met Dana out at the Fairgrounds and asked her about laying a carpet in my bonus room and Bruce wood up my stairs and hallway.  She was very informative and said she would be happy to come to my home for an estimate. I had a couple other estimates under way as well. I have to say that I went back and forth with Dana and other carpet installers because I wanted something nice in my home but did not want to invest a lot of money. I don't plan on staying in this house forever and with selling in mind, I don't want upgrades that I won't get back in return. Dana was super friendly and listened to my requests and helped me pinpoint the exact flooring that suited my needs. I ended up choosing a very nice Berber carpet for my stairs, hallway and bonus room. We removed the carpets ourselves because my husband took down popcorn ceilings in the hallways and bonus room. Dana was very agreeable to waiting for this to complete this work before we had the carpets laid. My installation went very well if you compare my experience with previous contractor experiences (I don't have the best luck when it comes to work being done on my house). The install was delayed by one day; due to the carpet not arriving on time. The next day the installer was supposed to be at my house by 0900 but did not arrive until about 1100. The installer explained that the carpet was delivered to the wrong warehouse and he had spent much of the morning tracking it down. However once he started installing you could tell he knew what he was doing and the job went very quickly. He, alone, installed the carpet within 3-4 hours. I was extremely impressed. He did it systematically with very little mess. The padding was awesome and the finished product was exactly what I wanted. The color is perfect (which Dana helped me pick out) and it was all done so professionally. My kitchen is next and will definitely look to Design Home Renovations for what they can do for me in my kitchen.

"'B-/C+' is the real grading. He manages several non-English speaking crews and so the quality of varies and no recourse with the people performing the work. The jobs looks good from afar, but the details are lacking. Many houses here are built with a "carpenter's gap" (google it). The workers did not mention this to me or to James Taylor, the consequence is my roof continues to let in vermin and this is now much more expensive to fix (I offered to pay the difference to fix this, never heard back). The workers also slid down the shingles and there is shingle wear where they slid down on their butts. The roof is functioning correctly, although we have sealed a several popped nails. The siding install was just the siding, the quote apparently did not include painting/sealing where the trim butts up against the siding ( I was told this is standard practice, so now I have to get up on a ladder and paint this myself). I was glad house wrap was included, but the work was carelessly cut and not according to Tyvek's overlap specification nor fastening (see picture. Manufacturer specification specifies a 6" overlap (red dots) and washered fasteners). Billing was clear enough. Email/phone response times long."

"We initially called Mr Hargrove in August for an estimate on painting of the exterior trim, gutters, and around windows and doors, etc. on our two story brick house.  We were very impressed with his punctual call return and his punctual arrival for an estimate.  We needed the house pressure washed and scraped all around as the house had been neglected by the previous owners and needed serious work.  We liked his plan and his estimate and we decided on the spot to hire him and his company as there were many other things that were also going to be needed and we thought "this was our guy for anything that we need"  His crew showed up on the date and time specified and went to work immediately washing and scraping the exterior of the house.  They also had to remove all the storm windows for proper scraping and painting.  It was pretty hot, but his guys showed up every day and did a fantastic job.  We were and still are VERY impressed with the job they did and would hire them again in a minute!  During one particular nasty rain storm we noticed a serious leak in a couple of rooms and told James about it and he went right up on the roof and found where it had leaked and within the next few days, he had put on a new roof on that part of the house and it has not leaked since!  And the new shutters they installed look great!!  We have also had two of our neighbors stop by commenting on how good our house looks and wanted to know who did it and we happily gave them his number!  We are new to this area and we feel very fortunate to have found James Hargrove and his home improvement company and definitely plan on using them again!!
