"13 years ago Deckscapes built us a 14x18 foot screened porch which we have enjoyed immensely over the years and have received so many compliments on. They did a magnificent job but after 13 years it was ready to be freshened up. Although they were not the least expensive, we went with Deckscapes based on how pleased we were with the initial build. We had them put in new screens, new screen caps, a new screen door and fresh paint on everything. They did an incredible job and we could not be happier. The porch looks brand new and every member of the Deckscapes team did an outstanding job. What amazed me and my wife was that all of the team members were the same people who originally built our porch 13 years ago. What a tribute to Mick and his team to stay together for this long! Mick, Mike, Rebecca, Tony, Hecter, Jesus and all their helpers were the best in every aspect. If you are looking for a deck or screened porch go with Deckscapes. There is no one better!!! Period..... "Awesome work! We had a very challenging project involving the complete demolition of the large existing deck and replacement, from the existing cement piers up, with new supports, a new composite deck, and steel cable railings topped with composite hand rails. All of this was done working on a steep hill with very little level ground. We felt that Nick treated the project as though he was working on his own home. A lot of thought and care went into everything that he did, including notching the supporting posts and adding diagonals underneath the deck for stability, always above and beyond what other contractors would do. The fit and finish is flawless. We are very proud and pleased with our new and improved deck and we will spend as much as time as we can out there with our feet up enjoying the view."

"Ryan and team did an outstanding job on my house as they had to replace all of the decaying MDF surrounding my windows along with rebuilding my double decker front porch (original builder did not construct the porch correctly which resulted in structural issues). Quality and craftsmanship has been top notch and no complaints."

"They did a great job! My roof looks great! Reliable and kept me well informed about everything. They kept cost in mind and cleaned up nicely after themselves. Serge even came out late to tarp the roof until it could get repaired so that I didnâ t have any further damage to the house waiting for the roof. They were very nice to work with. Great people. I canâ t say enough good things about them!"

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

Fascia and soffits differ in their location and design, but fascia vents are the most popular alternative to soffits. These are a bit more hidden than soffits, but depending on the structure of your roof, they can cost more to install and maintain. They are also installed around the entire roof, whereas soffits can be placed only where you need them or, if the aesthetics bother you, somewhere out of sight.

Yes, many gazebos are permanent structures built onto the land. However, if you have a portable gazebo that isn’t secured to the ground, you’ll want to check the manufacturer’s instructions to understand when to put it away. Generally speaking, when it’s particularly windy or wet outside, you should take down your temporary gazebo.

The average cost to build or install a gazebo is around $5,700, with prices typically ranging from $3,000 to $10,000. The final cost depends on several factors, including the gazebo's size, shape, material, and design complexity. For example, square gazebos and those made from metal can be more expensive, while brick is a more affordable material. Adding custom features like built-in seating or lighting will also increase the price. You can potentially save money by purchasing a prefabricated kit or performing some of the labor yourself.

To make the gazebo accessible, you can build a wheelchair pathway leading up to it. The path should be paved with a smooth surface for wheelchairs to roll through. A low curb should be placed along each side to ensure the wheelchair stays on the path. At the end of the path, build a wheelchair ramp connecting the gazebo.
