"I was lucky enough to find Drew to do all of the electrical work in a renovation project on an older home. The work was extensive and also required a lot of creativity and know-how to figure the best way to do things. Drew has been absolutely unbelievable! The lighting in this house is my favorite part of it. He’s got amazing ideas and he does things properly. He’s been reliable and he doesn’t overcharge. He also is an excellent communicator and make sure that what he’s doing is what you want. Can’t say enough about him as a professional, and he’s also a delight to have around the job site. He works well with the other tradesmen and helps me coordinate around lot of the other work that’s going on simultaneously. I give him my highest recommendation!"

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Carbon monoxide emissions aren’t only dangerous to human life, but they also harm our planet. While natural gas generators emit lower levels of CO than other fuel sources, there are still ways to reduce emission levels. For example, shop around for an eco-friendly generator that complies with current emission standards. Also, make sure your generator is serviced regularly to avoid CO buildup.

Generators are usually sized by running watts and starting watts. Ideally, you’ll want a generator that can offer both the necessary running watts and starting watts for everything you need to power without going beyond 90% of its capacity. Calculate your home’s electrical load based on the breakers in your home or adding up the appliance and lighting needs of connected rooms.

In some situations, yes. Never try to put biofuel into any home generator without checking the specifics first. If a generator has the ability to run on diesel, it can also run pure biofuel (the clear kind made from seed oils, for example). But if you are using biofuel made from animal fats or vegetable oils, the generator will need significant modifications before it can handle a sludgier type of biofuel.

Setting up utilities on a vacant property usually takes at least a few months, or between 6 weeks to 16 weeks. This process requires working with the local planning and zoning department, hiring a building contractor or engineer to design the utility layout, securing permits, laying the lines, and connecting the utilities.

These advanced generators use a key fob or a smartphone app to remotely start, which is ideal for getting power back on immediately without venturing outside. This feature is more common on whole home generators, but you may be able to find it on large portable generators, too.
