"I paid $354 for a deep cleaning, I did not get a deep cleaning. They didn't clean baseboards or front door & only 1 ceiling fan (I paid for 2). They left streaks all over our upstairs bath mirror at least I noticed that and had it recleaned. They did not clean any walls, didn't vacuum 2 rugs. The company offered us a $100 refund which is ridiculous. The cleaning we got was only worth $150 in my opinion."

"We highly recommend Blue Mountain Flooring. From our first interaction with Kim in the showroom, to Kyle coming to our home to measure and talk about the details, to the final installation with Aurilio and team, everything flowed perfectly. We previously owned two inns on Cape Cod with many flooring projects and honestly this installation was top notch. We were installing hardwood in three of our bedrooms and matching some existing flooring-the transition from old to new was meticulously installed and perfectly matched and I was especially impressed that they even filled the nail holes with white caulking on the trim and vacuumed and mopped the floor before leaving. The owner Kyle is very knowledgeable about flooring and cares about doing a good job. We even enjoyed meeting the young high school kid that he hired to help deliver the hardwood. Look forward to using Blue Mountain Flooring for future projects and highly recommend their services. Would welcome Kyle giving our phone number if future clients would like to discuss our experiences in more detail."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Technically, you can install carpet without padding. While skipping the padding can help you save on the project, it will make the carpet less comfortable and show uneven spots or imperfections in the subfloor. Because carpet padding protects the back of the carpet from wear, a carpet without padding can wear out faster than one with it. Carpet padding also cuts down on noise, so forgoing it can affect the acoustics in the room.

Yes, installing or replacing carpet yourself is a challenging DIY project. It involves multiple steps, including the removal of old flooring, underlayment and tack strip installation, careful measuring, and stretching the carpet to prevent it from wrinkling or puckering. Expect to spend at least four days installing carpet if you decide to do it yourself.

What a buyer prefers usually depends on the home’s layout and which material fits the current aesthetic. The local real estate market can also dictate these desires to some extent, as do the buyer’s personal preferences. With that said, laminate can increase the resale value of a home by a tiny bit, whereas carpet does not. Hardwood increases the resale value by the highest amount.

Decent carpet will last around 10 years on stairs. Some less durable carpets, like polyester, will only last five years on stairs. The ideal carpet, like wool or nylon, can last about 15 to 25 years. You’ll know when to replace it when it starts wearing down. You may have to replace it sooner if it's stained, whether due to water damage or pets.

Flooring installation usually takes about one to three days, so it’s a project you can do over a long weekend if you plan to DIY. Keep in mind that for some types of flooring, like hardwood or laminate, you’ll need to let the floor panels sit out of the packaging to acclimate them to their future home. This step will add at least a day to the project time, but it will help minimize the risk of warping due to changes in temperature and humidity.
