"Tomas from TM Projects WNC did a great job all-around on an assortment of badly needed fixes. These included installing flashing around a leaky chimney (leaking stopped), installation of a new ceiling fan (ruined by leak), removal of an old and very heavy window AC unit that was no longer needed, and a complete rehab of a deck that needed some replacement of joists and planks and a thorough pressure-washing and staining. All of this was done with courtesy, professionalism and very fair pricing. Tomas works very hard, is thorough and meticulous in his work, and everything went smoothly. He seems to have expertise in almost every category of home repair and construction. He is timely, responsive, and follows-through on all aspects of communication and timing. "Although the water intrusion has stopped, which I give them full credit for, I was very disappointed in the finishing of the job. The pipe that takes the water from the house, was about 150 feet in length and went across the front yard, under the sidewalk and down towards the street. When they had finished the installation, friends remarked to me that the pipe was sitting above grade and looked like a long lump in the yard. When I contacted and spoke to John about it, he assured me that it would settle down and become level in a few weeks. So I waited, and waited and some of it went down, but there are still long sections that are not level with the yard, and looks like an obvious repair. I have called him and emailed several times and told him that if it were not fixed by end of last year that I would let others know via this review. I had thought of holding money back, but really liked and trusted him, so I did not. Now I wish I had. It's too bad. If he had just been professional enough to finish and do what he said, I would have given him a very good review.

"It's hard to find companies you can trust to do a consistently good job in western NC, especially as far west as we live.  We like the work done by Handyman Express so much that this is the third project we've done with them in 2014, and expect we'll use their services again in 2015.
Handyman Express suggested options during the estimate, ordered the windows for us, took care of delivery and inspection of windows prior to installation, removed the old windows, installed the new ones, caulked the windows to prevent drafts, painted the sills around the new windows, repaired and painted the wood outside the house, installed the new screens, removed anything on the windows from the manufacturer/ or installation, cleaned up the work area including removing the unwanted old glass windows, and ensured we were satisfied with the results. They were very patient about letting me choose the smaller windows and pieces of wood I wanted for upcycling projects. (Love how Pintrest helps keep useable items out of the landfill.)
Even though it was very cold in the mornings, the entire team arrived cheerful and got right to work.  They tried to get as much done as possible each day to help finish the project before the upcoming bigger cold spell arrived.  And they succeeded. The only breaks we saw them taking were quick beverage or lunch breaks.  They truly worked the whole time they were on the job.
