"Project was to design and install a closet system for a large reach in closet. Estimator arrived on time, helped to design the closet and provided all the needed information. Installer was excellent and the closet looks beautiful. We are very pleased with all the services. David"

Small jobs welcome

"Allen came just the day after I called him and did a great job on installing a new screen door and was very clean, neat and courteous. Just about a week or so later I called him again and had a new ceiling fan installed. His work was fast and neat. He always cleaned up the left over debris and was very kind. The prices were reasonable and I would definitely recommend him to my friends and family. Very professional business and yes I would hire him again !!"

"Tonya responded quickly to my inquiry, and scheduled an appointment at quite short notice, before a visit by house guests. She made sure that she was clear about my preferences, and that I knew exactly what she and her assistant would be including as part of a thorough cleaning. They did an excellent job, and I was very pleased. I plan to use the service regularly in the future.

"Justin was on time and efficient about providing a detailed quote. He also made great suggestions about the closet organizing project I wanted done. The day of the job, he arrived on time and completed the work quickly. He cleaned up the work area when he was done. We?re very pleased with our new closet shelves and roll bar. I would highly recommend ?I?m On It? for closet organizing systems and projects."

"Crew showed up as schedule, introduce themselves, and went to work. They were very respectful and efficient in their work. Project was completed on time. Crew cleaned up all debris generated during the construction. Answered all my questions so I was informed along the way. I would hire them on my next project and recommend you give them an opportunity on yours. Frank Pasztor"

Closets questions, answered by experts

Adding a mudroom is one of the most budget-friendly home additions compared to other projects, costing between $8,000 and $16,000 on average. Not only is the room often quite small, but it also requires minimal fixtures or wiring to make the room practical. The most costly features include a weatherproof floor and an exterior door.

Yes, adding a built-in or custom closet generally increases your home's value and makes it more attractive to potential buyers. A well-designed closet adds utility, organization, and a touch of luxury, which are appealing selling points. Most homeowners see a return on investment (ROI) of 50% to 60%; for example, a custom closet can add about $1,000 to your home's value on average. The specific ROI depends on the type, with custom walk-in closets typically providing more value than reach-in closets. However, to maximize value, ensure the closet doesn't significantly detract from the room's usable square footage. Converting an entire room into a closet can actually lower your home's value. Similarly, using overly lavish materials may not recoup their cost. A good strategy is to add a closet that takes square footage from a non-living area, such as a garage, to create a mudroom closet.

Yes, books are typically heavier than clothes, unless you have a collection exclusively of paperbacks or comic books. That’s why packing lots of books warrants careful planning and consideration. Consider packing up your reading collection first to determine whether you need to downsize it before loading it into your moving truck.

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.
