"The receptionist answered my call, checked the schedule, and responded promptly that they could come out in the afternoon. So, I called at noon and within minutes had an appointment between 1 and 5 scheduled! Prompt service in my area is, well, lacking so this was a great relief! When the gentlemen arrived, they were both very professional, thorough, courteous and explained what they were doing and why along the way. Once they confirmed the house setup was OK, I asked if they would install a shutoff on my barn line that I suspected to be the culprit of the low flow. Without hesitation, they went out into my pasture, helped cutoff and drain all wells and lines and installed a shutoff for the suspect line. Then, they stayed until everything returned to what I considered normal. It was really great to work with someone that didn't criticize the sometimes sub-optimal plumbing arrangements one finds on a 1940s farm. Overall, this was a very, very good and appreciated experience. Prompt, knowledgeable service and no criticism over the sometimes sub-optimal plumbing of a do-it-yourself 1940s farm ... wonderful! I will definitely call FixIt Plumbing again and first for all of my needs going forward! ==== This is why I marked price a B. I feel that if the details (I'm home all day and please text when on your way) had made it to the repairmen, my two hour service call would not have extended into off hours resulting in my being charged for 1 hour overtime for 2 people. However this will not stop me from using FixIt Plumbing again; I will just remind the receptionist of my experience and ask that she make a special effort to get the message to the people dispatched to do the work. Still, I cannot emphasize enough how refreshing it was to be able to pick up the phone and get help the same day! ==== I called at noon asking for someone to come out. The receptionist checked and called back immediately saying someone would come out between 1 and 5. I was thrilled and said I'd be home all day and live right up the street from the property so just have the guys send me a text when on their way. Unfortunately, the message that I was home and to send a text didn't make it to the repair people and I was on a conference call (all day thing which is why I requested a text) and I missed their 2:20 call. When I got off my call at 3:43, I called and was told they didn't get the details and didn't want to waste a trip without knowing someone was home but they'd be out when they finished with the job they'd been dispatched to. They also offered to come first thing the next morning but I could not be out of work another day. I have to emphasize again, that I REALLY appreciate the service and will definately call FixIt Plumbling again in the future."

"David and his crew did an excellent job putting in our patio. Our yard was not level, so David leveled the area to install the patio. The job was completed in a day and everything was cleaned up after completion. The patio was given a â picture frame finishâ which finished a beautiful job. I highly recommend FDG Concrete to my friends."

"After a really frustrating experience with another contractor who took our deposit and disappeared for two weeks without doing any work, we were honestly stressed and unsure who to trust next. I found LEA Concrete LLC this morning, reached out, and within hours they were already on-site. Not only did they show up the same day—they completed the entire job that afternoon. The difference in professionalism was night and day. They communicated clearly, showed up when they said they would, and delivered clean, high-quality work with zero delays. If you’re looking for a reliable, responsive, and professional concrete company, I highly recommend LEA Concrete LLC. They truly stepped up when we needed it most."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

No, you can’t drain your sump pump into your home’s sewer system. In fact, it’s against the law in many places because dumping extra water into a municipal water system can disrupt or overwhelm the treatment process. And for similar reasons, you shouldn’t discharge a sump pump into your septic system, either.

Whether professional drainage installation is covered by insurance depends on your specific policy and the circumstances. In some cases, homeowners insurance may cover the cost if drainage problems pose a risk to your home's foundation or structural integrity. However, it's essential to review your insurance policy, understand the terms and conditions, and consult with your insurance provider to determine if your particular situation qualifies for coverage. Coverage may vary, so it's crucial to clarify the details with your insurer.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:

  • Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor

  • Mold spots in your basement

  • Musty smells or odors

  • Warped doors or walls

  • Cracks in walls

  • Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites

Since basements are prone to water and moisture issues and the resulting problems can be expensive to repair and potentially damaging to your home, basement waterproofing is almost always worthwhile. Even for homes that haven’t experienced water infiltration, waterproofing the basement is insurance against facing expensive repair bills in the future. All basements will leak at some point, so fixing drainage issues and taking steps to prevent moisture and water infiltration is wise.
