"I called Justin Ludy, the owner of Palmetto Wildlife Extractors, based on a recommendation from the pest company I have used for many years.  We made an appointment.  During the time they were to be at our house they had an emergency call that required more time and manpower and they were not able to keep our original appointment date.  Justin told his Michael, one of his employees, to make another appointment and correct our problem without charging.  The work was completed very well.  I later called Justin to send him a fee but he refused and made the work a gift since he said they had disrupted my day when the original appointment was not kept.  I certainly appreciated his professinalism and concern for his customers.

"Called at the end of October and made and appt for Oct. 28th.  We were told that the price would be $200.00 but that they would offer us the coupon rate of $175.00 after asking if we had a coupon, which we didnt. We got a call from the office Friday the 28th stating that the technician scheduled to come out had to go to the hospital and could they reschedule. We told them sure, no problem.  They reschedule with a date of Nov 1st at 12:00 pm and my husband verified time as he works the afternoon shift. He called me with time and date to mark the calendar.  On Tuesday the 1st he called me around 1:00 at work and said they had not shown or called. I told him to call them and and see what was going on and that we would need to reschedule.  He called and we were then told that they had Wednesday, Nov 2nd on their sheet or our appt.. He told them that he had been told the 1st and that it was too late that day  anyway as he needed to get ready for work.  They were due out around 11:00 or 11:30 on Wednesday.  My husband called me again Wednesday when they were an hour or so late and I told him to call them again to see if they were on their way since he had to be at work by 3:00 and if they werent to just cancel and I would call someone else.  He called them and was told they would be there soon.  They did arrive and as far as their work, it was done timely and well and my husband said they were very professional and seemed to know what they were talking about.  When it came time to pay the bill he told my husband it would be $200.00. Since we usually pay in cash we always have the correct amount for payment before anyone arrives.  My husband told him that we were told $175.00. He asked if we had a coupon and my husband said not that he knew of and the tech stated that they sometimes give the coupon rate when booking the appt. so that would be fine.  We understand that things happen beyond our control and we had no problem with the first appt cancellation but with the other problems with times and dates of appts and trying to schedule around to make sure my husband could be at work on time, we felt that follow ups and/or phone calls to let us know when someone is running late would have been the proper thing to do.  I also feel that the coupon rate or any rate quoted to a client should have been noted somewhere on our paperwork so that there was no question as to the amount we were to pay."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

The effectiveness of pest control in Calabash depends on managing moisture around your home, sealing gaps in siding or foundations, and maintaining clean outdoor spaces. Consistent rodent control and seasonal inspections help address new infestations quickly. Working with a local pest control professional familiar with Calabash’s climate and common pests ensures your home stays protected longer and reduces the risk of recurring problems.

Helpful?

In Calabash, attics, crawl spaces, and garages often attract rodents and termites due to excess moisture and warmth. Kitchens and pantries are prone to ant and cockroach activity, while decks, patios, and screened porches can harbor wasps and spiders. Regularly inspecting foundation perimeters, mulch beds, and gutters helps catch early signs of pest entry and keeps your home protected.

Helpful?

Calabash’s warm, humid weather and frequent rain create ideal breeding grounds for pests like mosquitoes, termites, and rodents. Heavy storms and hurricane season can drive pests indoors or disrupt scheduled treatments. Homeowners should schedule pest control services seasonally and focus on moisture-prone areas, such as around marshes and shaded landscaping, to stay ahead of pest activity throughout the year.

Helpful?

Homes in Calabash with raised foundations, dense shrubbery, or multiple porches can create hidden entry points for pests and complicate exterminator access. Limited crawl space clearance, intricate rooflines, or attached garages may require specialized rodent control or termite treatment strategies. If you notice persistent pest issues in hard-to-reach areas, your home’s layout may need a tailored pest management plan.

Helpful?

Completing pest control projects in Calabash directly improves comfort by reducing local nuisances like fire ants, palmetto bugs, and mosquitoes, which are common in the area’s coastal climate. Targeted treatments help prevent rodent infestations in crawl spaces and protect food storage from pantry pests. Regular pest management also minimizes allergens and preserves wood structures, making your home safer and more enjoyable year-round.
