Our founder and owner Joshua Hardee holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree, and is a Certified Pool and Hot Tub Operator. Joshua is a Second Generation Pool/Hot Tub industry professional. He has verifiable experience starting at age 9 working as assistant with his father in the industry. As the time passed Joshua would spend his afternoons and summer breaks from school learning and growing in his experience. By age 16 he was performing complex repairs and directing a crew. Fast forward to present day, Joshua is an established veteran in the Pool and Hot Tub industry. "Joshua, the owner of Down East Pools hired our company to deliver the rock for a residential pools. Aug 2021 (2 separate properties) In one instance we paid for the rock on OUR ACCOUNT. Its October and we are still waiting for the full amount owed. We're trying to recover from COVID and he's taking advantage of us! I went to the residence where the rock was delivered and the property owner said he fired Joshua also. He lied so much! NOT PROFESSIONAL! Do not use him, he doesn't pay his bills."

How often you change the water in your swim spa depends on how often you use it. Most manufacturers recommend changing the water every three to six months. If you use your swim spa throughout the seasons, it’s a good idea to set up a quarterly deep cleaning schedule. The ideal instructions should be in the owner’s manual.

Similar to a hot tub, swim spas last anywhere from five to 20 years, depending on quality and your attention to maintenance. The best way to increase the lifespan of your swim spa is to carefully maintain it—including draining it around every six months to deep clean the parts.

Biofilm growth can cause a hot tub to feel slimy. Hot tub biofilm is a slimy substance that’s typically due to natural contaminants like makeup, soaps, skin oils, deodorants, or lotions. A hot tub can also have a slimy interior or slimy water if the tub’s filters are old or damaged, or if the hot tub isn’t properly cleaned. You should drain your hot tub, wipe away any slimy residue, then refill the water and use a spa purge product that prevents the buildup of biofilm.

For a fully-foamed hot tub, freezing typically occurs when the temperature drops below 28 degrees Fahrenheit and remains at or below this level continuously for a minimum of 36 hours. If your hot tub and pumps are still operational, however, the water circulates, and this continuous movement helps prevent freezing, even in very cold conditions. This circulation, along with the insulation provided by the foam, helps maintain the water temperature and prevent it from freezing during extended cold periods. Still, if you’re not planning to run it regularly, be sure to winterize the hot tub properly to prevent damage from freezing.
