"Let me say that Gustavo was great! Professional and kept me informed the whole step of the way. Pricing was up front and no surprises. He ended up having to replace the toilet flange on the toilet on the second floor. AND he repaired a small section of the ceiling on the first floor due to water damage. All within one day. He and his assistants were very good."

"Scott was excellent! Knowledgeable and explanatory! Worked in cramped space and was very careful getting that huge 1993 65 gallon take out of the house safely! Already talking to this vendor about future plumbing projects!"

"Responded to my initial call the next day (non emergency). Came to my home when he said he would, Removed his shoes upon entering. I told him my problem, toilet that took too long to fill and the toilet would sometimes not refill after flushing. He looked at it and told me what has to be done. He also mentioned that he noticed another problem, the toilet was not seated securely to the floor. I had recently had new flooring put in and the installer screwed up. Mr. Barger fixed that for me too. His price was very reasonable. Will definitely be calling him for other plumbing issues. J"

"Dave, the owner of the company, completed several plumbing repairs in my home--installed new kitchen faucet, shut off valves, new shower drain, and O rings on two toilets. He was so fast and efficient resulting in my final bill a fraction of the cost on estimates from two other companies. The five star rating for the company is accurate and well deserved!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Yes, and no. Your shower, toilet, and sink all connect to the same main drain, but the secondary drains going from each fixture to the main drain are usually separate. This isn’t always the case—especially in older homes—but since toilets contain black water and showers, tubs, and sinks have grey water, toilets are more regulated and come at a greater risk of contamination. It’s best to keep these drains separate using individual waste collection for this reason.

Replacing a toilet typically takes two to four hours. Several factors can impact this timeline, including the condition of the old toilet, flange, flooring, and pipes. If a professional discovers issues like a cracked flange, damaged flooring, leaky pipes, or a broken wax ring, the installation will take longer. Additionally, some toilets, such as wall-mounted or in-wall-tank models, are more complex to install and may require cutting into and repairing drywall, which adds to the project time. Given the weight of toilets and the importance of proper placement, it is often best to hire a professional for the job.

Silicone-based caulk is known for its waterproofing qualities, so it’s the best option for any bathroom area. While it’s often more expensive, it will provide a better, longer-lasting seal than acrylic or latex caulk. Use it along the base of the toilet to prevent leaks and keep the area clean and protected.

The main causes for a leaky toilet flapper include wear and tear or a broken or incorrectly installed toilet flapper chain. If your toilet flapper is torn or deteriorated, it can’t provide a proper seal to keep water from running. Meanwhile, a chain that has come loose, was moved, or just wasn’t installed right can prevent your flapper from fully closing.

If you’ve accessed the bolts and nuts that hold your toilet seat in place and can’t unscrew them, it’s possible that they were overtightened or that the material corroded over time, making it impossible to unscrew. If that’s the case, you can either call in a plumber for help, or you can DIY a solution if you’re careful. Lay down masking tape around the mounting bracket and then use the tape as a surface to lay a hack saw blade. Move slowly to cut through the bracket and bolt, being careful not to damage the porcelain in the process.
