"Tucker and his apprentice were able to evaluate our electrical problem the same day I called. He quickly sent an acceptable bid and took care of the problem the very next week. I would highly recommend AU Electrical for their knowledgeable and fast customer service!"

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"Ole came out thoroughly inspected my home. He gave me a firm estimate. When they came out to perform the install the workers were very professional and the work was immaculate. When they ran into an issue I was immediately consulted and a workaround was implemented. They were a pleasure to do business with!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For many homeowners, sheds are more than storage spaces for tools or lawn care appliances. If you’re thinking about building a work space outdoors or could make your life simpler by running electricity to a spot that’s closer to your yard, it could absolutely be worth the cost.

GFCI outlets should be clearly labeled with LINE and LOAD labels, with arrows leading to the proper terminals. The line terminals are typically at the top, and the load terminals are typically at the bottom.

Yes, in some locations, it is required by the National Electric Code (NEC) to have a transfer switch installed for electrical emergencies. In addition to following electrical code, generator transfer switches ensure your home is fully protected during a power outage. By switching the power from the main breaker to the generator breaker, you can seamlessly operate your HVAC, lights, appliances, devices, and more during an emergency.

If you’re wondering whether an electrical panel in the bathroom needs to be moved, the answer is yes. Due to the risks of shocks and electrical fires, electrical panels cannot be located in bathrooms per National Electric Code Volume 70. Additionally, gasses, vapors, liquids, and temperature fluctuations can all compromise the functionality of your electrical panel, so it’s important to install it in a dry, cool, safe, and easily accessible location.

Multiple wire sizes are used for residential electrical purposes. While the most common sizes used in homes are 14 and 12 gauge, some appliances, such as stoves, electric water heaters, central air units, etc., may use larger gauge wire to accommodate their larger amperage. Typically, larger appliances require 10-, 8-, or 6-gauge wires.
