"The project was to hang 5/8 drywall on the ceiling and 1/2 drywall on the walls and finish in two rooms of 1955 built home. One room is 12x 16 and the other is 5x7 Daniel schedule a time to come out to draw up a material list and coordinated the material delivery time. I was impressed with the schedule. When Daniel schedule an event, they were on time. The work was done in a timely manner with a friendly professional attitude. Since my wife and I were going to do the painting, Daniel instructed us on the steps to take to achieve a pro looking finished walls. After applying the PVA paint we noticed a few minor imperfections and Daniel came out fixed them right away. These type of minor imperfections are expected on new drywall installs and are handled most of the time by a professional painter. To sum up my experience with The Mud Studs, they are on time, friendly, professional and do a great job with minimum impact on the rest of the house. Great guys great job. I highly recommend them if you want a drywall job done right."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Options include bricks, natural stone, and concrete blocks. Choose based on durability, aesthetics, and budget.

Yes, even if you’re being careful, removing tile can damage your drywall to some degree. However, you can minimize the damage done to it by eliminating a majority of the grout and taking your time prying each tile off. Also, it's worth noting that you might have more drywall damages to deal with if your tile is set into the mortar.

You can take a few steps to save money on drywall installation, even when hiring a professional to do the bulk of the work for you. These ideas include the following:

  • Buy the drywall and other materials yourself to avoid product markup and delivery fees

  • Ask about discounts if you use the same company to tape, spackle, and paint

  • Hire drywall professionals in the winter when demand is the lowest

  • DIY as many parts of the project as possible, like replacing insulation and painting

Yes, any parts of drywall that are wet or overly moist will need to be replaced. Drywall is intended to be dry (it’s in the name, after all.), as excess moisture can lead to mold and mildew and eventually corrode your home’s foundational building pieces. Do regular inspections in your home to make sure all your plumbing is intact and in good condition—this will go a long way toward preventing leaks.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.
