"I was introduced to Sacry through a third party. But I have now found an electrician for life! They showed up with little notice, analyzed the scope of what to be done, and made some recommendations. These recommendations were not so they could charge more, but rather so the job could be completed safely, and look professional. Sacry Electric went out of there way to make sure I was satisfied. I wish more companies had the same values as Sacry, putting the customers wants, needs, AND budget as their only priorities! Thanks again Sacry! I will be calling again soon!"

"Carlos did an excellent job! He built a loft for my son's bedroom with a hatch entrance and ladder, and a 2nd rope entrance with 1-way door. The loft has lights installed and an extra level inside. He listened to my (and my son's) ideas and came up with a practical and wonderful design."

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

Customers say: True professional

"Pearson is the bomb! I was looking for an electrician and called Pearson; Sean, the owner, picked up, gave me a reasonable quote based on the job I described (installing two ceiling fans), and even anticipated a potential issue (needed different electrical boxes from the existing ones). He was also kind enough to recommend a particular brand that he knew was high-quality and long-lasting. He followed up with emails to confirm the appointment and quote. On the day of appointment, he showed up on time and prepared. He worked efficiently and even cleaned up after! I wholeheartedly recommend Pearson. Altogether super professional and lovely."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

There is no blanket figure for a residential home’s electrical load, since load varies by the size of the home, how many appliances are used, and the efficiency of their electrical systems. Typically, however, it’s safe to assume 40 to 60 amps is the average electrical load of a residential home.

Yes, it’s safe to strip a wire if you follow the proper safety precautions. First and foremost, you must always disconnect the power and never try stripping a live wire. Using wire strippers is another safety precaution, but don’t forget to keep your fingers away from the blade. It’s also critical you only remove the insulation and not accidentally cut into the conductor, which is unlikely as long as you’re using the right-sized wire stripper.

Typically, refrigerators should not be plugged into GFCI outlets. This is another appliance with a motor that can be prone to a little current leakage. Using a standard outlet saves nuisance tripping and the potential of waking up to a refrigerator full of warm food. The only exception is when the refrigerator is in a garage, where all outlets must be GFCI.

Yes, GFCI breakers are required for all outdoor outlets. This code requirement applies to all outlets located on balconies, decks, patios, and other outdoor lounge spaces. In addition, outdoor outlets need to have watertight covers that provide protection when cords are plugged in. If you have an older home that may not be up to code, it's a good idea to also ask your electrician about adding GFCIs to some indoor areas. Kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and any other areas of a home that are commonly exposed to moisture should have GCFI breakers.

While the National Electrical Code (NEC) does not set a strict limit, a common guideline is to have a maximum of eight outlets or receptacles on a 15-amp circuit. This rule of thumb, which equates to about one outlet per 1.5 amps, helps keep the total electrical load safely below 80% of the circuit breaker's capacity. It is important to consider the power demands of any devices or appliances that will be plugged in, as overloading a circuit can lead to tripped breakers or create a fire hazard. To ensure the safety and code compliance of your electrical system, consult with a licensed electrician.
