"They were very professional and went over & above to provide us with all we asked. They made a point of keeping communication open to the progress of the various jobs we tasked them with. Their skill and attention to detail was very evident in the finishing and installation of several sets of doors - they are beautiful! Not only would we recommend them but we plan to continue using their services for several future projects."

"I've hired many contractors. Bill Dallas was easy to work with. Kind, attentive, on time, and did an excellent job for a fair price in a timely manner. He did much more than tile work. He installed some paneling and trimmed it, and created 14 new kitchen cabinet doors and installed them and repaired a wooden drawer too. Bill is trustworthy and serious about his work. A mild mannered gentleman! I will surely call on him again!"

"We were able to see the remodel of a house from start to finish- he installed new cabinets, counter tops, flooring, trim and floor boards, painted and textured throughout the house. He updated the exterior as well. He is cost conscious and efficient. The end product was beautiful substantiating a significant increase in the home value."

Doors questions, answered by experts

The L marking on a door closer stands for latch speed and the S marking stands for swing speed. These two letters inform what part of the door closer you may be adjusting. The latch speed being the short final swing the door makes before closing and the swing speed being the long swing of the door when closing.

Steel doors last the longest, sometimes upwards of 100 years. Fiberglass comes in second, with a lifespan of 70 years. Wood doors have the lowest lifespan, with some wood types only last 20 to 40 years.

Standard door sizes aren’t one-size-fits-all, but there are common go-to dimensions. For exterior doors—like your front door—36 inches wide by 80 inches tall is typical, though you’ll see 30- or 32-inch widths too, especially in older homes. Interior doors vary more. Bedrooms and bathrooms often use 30- to 32-inch widths, and closet doors can be anything from slim singles to wide bi-folds. Height is usually 80 inches across the board; however, always measure your actual opening. “Standard” only works if it matches what’s already in place.

Most slab doors do not have hinge cutouts, making them a complete blank slate. You will have to measure and cut the mortises yourself. You can order a slab door from a home improvement store and ask them to make the cuts, although you still have to take the measurements independently.

Here's an idea if you love pocket doors but prefer the barn door style: A pocket door that looks like a barn door. You might prefer pocket doors but still desire the rustic aesthetic of a barn door. You can simply choose a function pocket door with the same style as a barn door. There are many options available on the market to fit the look you want to achieve.
