Customers say: Quality work

"Nathan is a grad A professional. I couldn’t be happier with the job this company did on our new metal roof. From the very first phone call they were upfront, easy to talk to, and really knew their stuff. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard every day, and kept everything clean around the house while they were here. The crew paid attention to the little details, which I really appreciated, and you can tell they take pride in their work. The roof itself looks great better than I even pictured and I’ve already had neighbors stop and compliment it. It’s rare these days to have a project go this smooth from start to finish, but these guys pulled it off. If you’re thinking about a metal roof, I’d definitely recommend giving them a call."

"Hutch Construction did a great job on an outdoor deck repair and stain project. They got the project done promptly, were responsive to our questions, and pleasant to have around. The project did end up costing more than they projected as it took longer. That was probably because there needed to be more repair work done than had been anticipated. I highly recommend this company."

"Taking into account the fickle fall weather here, it went exceptionally well. Our original intention was to fix a few leaks with a patch job. Upon opening up the roof, the contractor found some rotted joints and sheathing, along with water-damaged insulation. Determined it'd be better to construct a whole new roof support, Consequently, the cost went from $5400 to $6900. But we were assured the new roof would last 25-30 years. Their boss was very knowledgeable and personable, reiterating to call him anytime if any problems evolve. I believe Simple Works can easily set the standard for other roofers in Gallatin Valley (Montana)."

Small jobs welcome

"Mike, Tony and crew did just what we talked about at the beginning. They did it while having to move a lot of stuff around in the garage throughout the project, and left it all clean and able to park our cars in the garage each night - a real benefit. They sheet rocked, taped and painted the whole large garage and installed a pull-down stair to the attic space above and made it usable for some storage. They also tiled the garage entry to the house and added a shelf area above a staircase from the garage to our lower level. After all was done, they cleaned and moved all the shelving units we had in their back in place, and took quite a bit we decided to get rid of to the dump. All the while keeping us informed about schedule and progress while being respectful and friendly. Jim"

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

If you’re building a pole barn in place of a traditional home, lenders usually don’t offer traditional mortgages for these structures. You can also expect higher insulation costs and building permits may not be allowed in your area. Even if you’re just using a pole barn as storage or as a shelter for animals, these structures are less durable than steel buildings and require more maintenance.

Choose a barn door with an extra two to three inches on either side of the frame. The width of the barn door will depend on the type and placement of your track, but in most cases, an additional inch or two will do the trick.

The most common slope, or roof pitch, for a shed is 4:12 or four inches of height for every horizontal foot. For areas that experience heavy snow loads, a steeper roof of 6:12 or 9:12 is best.

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

If you can’t repair and repurpose your shed, it might be possible to sell it, donate it, or salvage parts rather than them just ending up in a landfill. Professional junk removal services will advise you on what can and will be recycled. You may also want to keep some parts to upcycle them for other projects around your home. Turning planks from your memory-filled wooden shed into a coffee table or bed headboard is good for the environment and the soul.
