I am a General Contractor and licensed and insured. I work a lot with the local community in helping the handicap and elderly by installing equipment to help the disabled in their home. I remodel bathrooms, doorways and entryways to enable easier access. I can frame, finish, roof, paint, trim and install fixtures throughout the house. I have built sheds, garages and outbuildings to meet the homeowners requests. I have the ability to subcontract out any services that I do not perform. I hire local guys and have a team of 3 employees on call.

As such, there is no difference between Formica® versus laminate other than laminate is the generic name for layers of paper topped with an image layer that have been compressed under high pressure to form a solid, easy-to-maintain countertop. Not usually. Laminates are made from plastic materials, traditionally melamine, so they don’t offer any eco-friendly or green benefits. Melamine itself is infamous for its toxic composition and outgassing over time, so if you’re looking for a green counter option, it’s best to avoid laminates.
