Second, they took two months to complete a job that should not have lasted more than a month.
Third, they left TERRIBLE messes every time they came over. No respect was shown toward my home. Ever.
Fourth, I received a bill for $1896 in November, asked for an itemized bill, and THEN RECEIVED A BILL FOR $2,048.25! WHAT??? I cannot give credibility to a company that changes their final bill with no justification. It appears that I was charged for asking for an itemized bill.
Issues arose during the dryout phase when power was lost on 2 occasions and a Airconditioner froze up due to interrupted airflow in the house.
During the first power outage on Friday evening, Paul Davis Restoration was relunctant to assist with the power outage and was not open to the concept of not charging for dehumidifier and blower rental during the power outage time frame. No indication that they were prepared to bring in Generators to continue the dryout work with the power outage. Due to the lack of concern during this first incident, when the subsequent power outage occured in the bathroom we resoved the situation ourselves. The circuit was overloaded due to the amp draw from the blower and dehumidifyer. We removed some items and reset the circuit breaker (which was starting to feel quite warm). Luckily the bathroom was dry not to long after this point and appliances removed. Since the house airflow was interrupted the airconditioner froze over with several gallons of ice. Had to call out a HVAC expert who found the thermostat, filter, fluid level, compressor to operating in excellent condition. Would have liked to have Paul Davis inform of this possibility since temperatures outside exceed 95 degrees this time of the year, would have saved the cost of the HVAC visit and time without air conditioning.
Were unable to contact our project Manager from 3 July until 11 July so situation just stagnated.
When I tried to discuss the details of the work to perform, kept getting referrenced to a website, told I should choose the cheapest estimate, told that he was late for a meeting, told that I was trying to pick a fight with him, told he had to get to a meeting. Our home is a 1904 Vicorian so we are probably more interested in quality as opposed to price and PDR seemed very interested in doing it the cheapest way possible without discussing verbally the details of the repair.
Based on their response to household issues during dryout and difficulty contacting to understanding the details and that fact they asked us to sign a "work completed" document even thought he work had not been completed we opted terminate our relationship with them and go with a different General Contractor for the repair phase of the work.
To sum up....their initial estimate and tear down/dryout physical work was good. Their communication during the dry-out phase and estimation for repair was horrible.... leading to extra cost, extra discomfort and extra delay for us.
