"They are wonderful. I woke up Christmas Eve morning 2022 with no water due to the unprecedented freeze. Seriously, no water coming out of any faucet. AnB went above and beyond to make sure I had water. It was freezing cold and they were under my house fixing everything. I was so upset and they eased my anxiety, got everything working again and educated me on steps I can take to preserve the plumbing in my 110year old house. They will be the only plumbers I call from now on. Thank you AnB!"

Guice Electric is a one-stop shop. If we sell it, we can service it, including lamps, grinder pumps, and ceiling fans. We specialize in lamp repair and restoration. Located in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Guice Electric has been serving the electrical needs of the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1994. Originally founded by John Guice Sr., the company is now run by his son, John Guice, Jr., who everybody simply knows as "Junior." In addition to selling and servicing our products, Guice Electric installs home wiring systems. Our company also offers electrical consulting at competitive pricing. Guice has spent a lot of time learning the craft of electronics. While many people learn electronics at colleges and trade schools, we have learned it from experience. Our clientele varies greatly. "They were very quick and professional. I wanted to upgrade to tankless water heater. They made it very simple and clean. Also it looks very nice instead of a clunky tank in a corner. Prices are very reasonable and affordable as well. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their water heater."

Water Softeners FAQs, answered by experts

Installing a water softener could help reduce calcium buildup in your pool if your pool has high calcium hardness as a result of hard drinking water in your home. Pool softeners work by exchanging calcium and magnesium for sodium, so if you use softened water to top off your pool, it may help keep calcium hardness from rising over time. However, it won’t lower the calcium hardness of the water already in your pool and isn’t a practical way to control pool calcium levels. The average water softener installation cost is between $200 and $6,000.

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.

The primary difference between a water softener and a water filter lies in what they remove from the water. A water softener is designed to remove hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. In contrast, a water filter has a broader effect, removing various contaminants above a certain size, which can include bacteria and other impurities.

To decide which you need, consider your goal. If you want to eliminate hard minerals, choose a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, a filter is the better option. Filters are also generally less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply, you may need to install both for comprehensive treatment.

A water softener is a worthwhile investment if you live in an area with hard water. While hard water is safe to drink, it contains minerals like calcium and magnesium that can cause significant problems over time. These minerals build up inside pipes, reducing water flow and eventually corroding the plumbing system, which can lead to leaks and a shortened lifespan. Hard water also damages fixtures and appliances, potentially resulting in costly repairs. Additionally, it makes soaps and detergents less effective, meaning you'll use more product to get things clean. By installing a water softener, you can prevent these issues. The initial investment is often recouped through long-term savings, including lower energy bills, reduced appliance and plumbing maintenance, and spending less on soap and cleaning supplies. Other benefits include cleaner linens, dishes, and clothing, as well as softer water that is gentler on your skin and hair. In some areas, a water softener can also increase your home's value, making it a valuable long-term investment.

Because it’s been through the water cycle, evaporating and becoming slightly acidic thanks to dissolved carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, rainwater tends to be naturally soft compared to groundwater, which has just been in contact with limestone. However, the natural hardness level of water always depends on where you are and other factors.
