"He said to me, don't focus on the wiring just watch the TV instead. I waited three days later, went to Home Depot and purchase a white stick post and just layed it over the wirer because he nailed and tacked everything to the wall. Its working out, that's how it's going."

"We have our second home in the mountain so they were able to send it and he was able to work with our installers and it worked out fine. So far we were are pleased with it. We were with another security system for 12 years and we changed because their selection of product was of a higher grade. They are excellent."

"Great! George, the technician was on time, a great guy to be around, thorough, responsive and I was very comfortable having him in my home for a few hours. The service works great, he showed us how to use every feature. The system works just as expected and when we've called in for questions or assistance, the call center is courteous and well informed.

"I called Protect America on December 31, 2012 to find out about their alarm monitoring service. The sales professional with whom I spoke was very nice, but at the time they told me that they had special pricing in place that would be expiring that day and that the pricing would change Jan. 1. Well that is not true as Protect America is trying to convince you to buy the service on the given day. In either case, I ended up making the purchase. I don't remember the exact count of sensors, I think it was around 39, but I was getting a boat load of sensors for free, essentially. So I went with it. The order was shipped within 2 days and arrived at my home within another 2 days. In the meantime, i did some additional research about the company. Why I didn't do this before I have no clue, but I think it's because all the websites I had checked previously were biased and for some dumb reason I thought I was getting an independent recommendation. Upon further research, I started uncovering all kinds of complaints about Protect America on the BBB website as well as Yelp, and similar sites. I immediately got nervous about being locked in for 3 years with a system and a service provider that could prove to be problematic down the road. I decided that it would be better for me to cancel prior to activating. Well then began my frustrations. Once I was trying to cancel, I could never get anyone on the line. I could always get a sales person within secs, but they would route me to customer service for my cancellation and I literally sat on hold for 30 mins to an hour several times with no one picking up. That in and of itself says a lot. Either there are too many complaints to handle or there are not enough customer service people, but plenty in sales. Eventually I was able to get through to someone who agreed to refund my money since I had not activated the system and was still within the trial period. A few days after, I realized a credit of $17.90 hit my card as opposed to the $179. How clever! I had to start the process all over again in order to get the rest of my refund with long hold times just to get a customer service rep on the phone. While I cancelled early and can't speak to the actual quality of the monitoring service or the equipment, my initial impression of the customer service seemed to corroborate everything I read online. That said, I'd caution others to do their research prior to signing on with this company, and definitely don't let the sales people pressure you since they're always around and you can reach them easily. Take time with your decision. On the plus side, I did eventually get my full refund and the idea of the free equipment is certainly appealing, but you just might get what you pay for.

Home Automation questions, answered by experts

Keep it clutter-free, ensure bright lighting, and follow staging recommendations to maintain visual appeal.

Understanding the advantages and disadvantages of hiring a home staging service can help determine if it’s the right choice for you.

Pros

  • Helps your listing stand out among other local homes

  • Sell your home faster

  • Increase the value of your home

  • Help potential buyers envision the space as their own

Cons

  • Significant upfront costs

  • Storage cost for items and furniture that don’t fit in the staged rooms

  • Significant time and effort required for renovations and repairs

  • Potential furniture rental costs

The impact of a walk-in tub on home value depends on various factors, including market demand, demographic preferences, and overall home features. While some buyers may view it as a desirable accessibility feature, others might see it as a niche amenity, potentially limiting the pool of interested buyers. However, it could add value if the walk-in tub meets specific needs or enhances the property's appeal to a target demographic. Ultimately, its effect on home value varies case by case, with factors like installation quality, design, and neighborhood trends playing roles in determining its impact.

Yes, staging a home really works and can help your home sell faster, potentially for a higher price than if you did not use a home staging service. According to the National Association of Realtors, 48% of seller’s agents reported home staging decreased a home’s time on the market.

Plus, 20% of buyer’s and seller’s agents claimed home staging increased home sale prices by 1% to 5%. Although decluttering and cleaning help a home sell, staging can take your home’s curb appeal to the next level, helping to expedite the process and increase your profit.

In most cases, selling a home in as-is condition will lead to a sale price that’s somewhere between 10% and 30% lower than normal. However, it’s often worthwhile to sell at a loss because the alternative would be to pay for the repairs yourself, which could end up costing you more. Even if they didn’t, selling as-is saves you from the time and energy you’d spend coordinating the repairs.
