"Wynn and Weeks did a phenomenal job, clearing a new road, grading, and laying gravel as well as clearing multiple trees around our property. They were professional, efficient and cleaned up the property after the job well. My folks were impressed at how polite and helpful they were when they assisted them on their property in Canton, MS."

"I hired Austin with CW Land Services LLC to come do some grading in my backyard in order to prep for sodding. There were multiple uneven sections and ruts throughout the area from large equipment during the construction of my home. I now have a flat surface to lay sod. Austin was thorough and professional throughout the job. I would recommend him for any and all Dirtwork. Thanks Austin!"

"Matthew Bailey came out and added an irrigation zone. His bid was in line with my budget. He plans on returning to repair the section of lawn with sod at no cost to me. I highly recommend him. He also listened to me which was extremely important."

"Proscape did a great job. I have used them for multiple projects. They’ve done everything from Irrigation system installation to drainage to General cleanup and improvement for us. Very reasonable pricing and a do what they say they are going to do which is pretty tremendous in today’s world!"

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

Regular inspection for issues like cracks or leaning and ensuring drainage stays clear.

They prevent soil erosion, add flat space, and enhance property aesthetics.

Poured concrete is often the cheapest material for a retaining wall, costing around $6 to $8 per square foot. Other budget-friendly options include vinyl and landscaping timbers, which range from $10 to $15 per square foot; landscaping timbers are particularly well-suited for DIY projects. Untreated timber and railroad ties are a step up in price, starting at $15 to $25 per square foot. Natural stones can also be a cost-effective choice if you can source them from your own property, but they can be expensive to purchase. High-end materials like steel are typically the most expensive but offer superior durability and aesthetics.

Through proper drainage solutions and compacting the foundation soil.
