"I had purchased a LVP flooring and I gave Brian at Floor-It a call and he was able to do an entire house install in just a couple of days! Not only was he quick and efficient, he also gave an incredible price with quality work. He also installed carpet on our stairs. We chose to do carpet instead of LVP because of our dogs and child. Hopefully the floors last forever, but if we ever move or need floors for another reason Brian at Floor-It will be my first call."

"I recently hired L&O flooring to install new flooring in my home, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! They were professional, punctual, and extremely detail-oriented. The quality of the installation was top-notch, and they made sure everything was clean and tidy before they left. I appreciated their clear communication throughout the project. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for reliable and skilled flooring work!"

"I couldn't be more pleased with the work done by Hondupaint! Alex is a delight, vastly knowledgeable, and a true "go-getter" which is a rare find in this day and age. His employees are lovely and professional. They arrive on-time or early and get straight to work--and their work is extraordinary. I look forward to using Hondupaint for future projects and recommend them to anyone. DIY painting is tedious, messy, and exhausting. Do yourself a favor and let Hondupaint take care of your home improvement projects for you."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.

Whether you install flooring before or after kitchen cabinets depends primarily on the type of flooring you are using. For materials like hardwood, tile, and sheet flooring, the best practice is to install the flooring first. This ensures the cabinets are installed at the correct height and on a stable surface. However, you should not install cabinets on top of floating floors, such as laminate or luxury vinyl plank (LVP). These types of flooring need room to expand and contract with temperature and humidity changes. Placing heavy cabinets on top can restrict this movement, potentially causing the floor to buckle and making the cabinets unstable. For floating floors, install the cabinets first and then lay the flooring up to them. Other reasons to consider installing cabinets before the flooring include saving money on materials (since you won't need flooring under the cabinets) and avoiding potential damage to your new floor during cabinet installation. Additionally, installing cabinets directly on the subfloor might prevent voiding your flooring's warranty.

You can tell if you have linoleum or vinyl floors if you look under the floor's surface. Linoleum floors have color that goes all the way through the tile, while vinyl flooring uses a printed image on the surface of the tile, plank, or sheet. This image often realistically replicates the look and feel of wood, ceramic tile, stone, or other natural materials.

There are a few cleaning products that you should never use on carpets because you may accidentally ruin them. Do not use bleach, dish soap, laundry detergent, and abrasive cleaners on carpet. For more guidance on products to avoid, consult a local carpet cleaning company for expert advice.

Most people realize it is time to replace the padding when the carpet loses springiness or feels thin and unsupportive. Other telltale signs are lumps or dips in the carpet that could look unattractive or cause tripping hazards. Similarly, if your carpet is making a crinkly sound or starting to wear out prematurely, you might need to replace your padding.
