"ADT is the best company to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

"Ted is the man!!!!  We recently bought a home in Springfield that needed some TLC.  All kinds of little jobs that take a lot of time.  We called Ted and he has been (and is) FANTASTIC.  The first project involved putting shelves in a two bay garage, installing an attic door & ladder, refinishing a kitchen island top, making custom shelves for closets, and a very tedious job of repairing multiple sets of plantation blinds.  The work he has done for us is excellent.  We keep him busy with things as we prepare to move into the house.  He touched up and refinished sinks, cabinets and floors to make them look like new again.  Not only did he do the job well, but he purchased all of the items necessary - saving us a lot of time.  One job involved a special trim around a large dining room window...Ted got it done!  I think he enjoys a challenge and we appreciate him.  He's easy to communicate with via phone calls and email and we appreciate Ted for everything he has done for us.  Don't hesitate to call him for your handyman jobs (that is if he's not busy with helping us!) :-)

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

You might assume that having two locks on one door will offer more protection than only one lock, but there may not be an advantage. While there’s nothing wrong with having two locks if you feel it’s best for your living situation, rest assured having one high-quality deadbolt installed correctly will offer a high level of protection.

A door lock service is performed by a professional locksmith, and the cost of hiring a locksmith for these kinds of repair tasks usually runs in the $100 to $250 range. It all depends on the type of locks you have, how many locks are included in the service, and where your home is located. Always choose reliable, trustworthy locksmiths, and get a few quotes before making your choice.

Deadbolts are solid and durable as can be, but the pin and tumbler can still be forced open, thus making this type of lock susceptible to picking. Most types of deadbolts are harder to pick than a traditional spring-based lock, though. It requires a specialized lock pick and a tension wrench to align all of the pins, thus unlocking the door.

Lock bumping is a technique locksmiths use to quickly and quietly open a pin tumbler lock, typically found in most types of deadbolts. It involves inserting a specially crafted key, or bump key, into the lock and tapping or "bumping" it with a mallet or similar tool. The force applied causes the lock's pins to jump momentarily, allowing the lock to be turned and opened. Unfortunately, thieves also use this technique to break into homes. Luckily, products like a deadbolt strap will fortify your lock.

The cost-effectiveness of fixing or replacing a door lock depends on the severity of the issue. Repairing a minor problem, such as loose screws or a need for lubrication, is usually cheaper than replacing the entire lock. However, replacing the lock if it is severely damaged, outdated, or lacks security features may be a better long-term investment. New locks often have improved security features, enhancing your property's safety.
