Dan and Danielle Randolph were able to see the vision that we had for our home and they gave creative input that made for a very unique set of custom cabinets! Not only did they build the cabinets that we wanted, they also took on some "unfinished" projects that we needed for our new home--fixing a set of antique corbels that we wanted to use on our covered back porch, they also converted an antique fireplace mantel into a beautiful built-in book case that is in the center of our home. Because plastering involves applying a wet material, it’s more time-consuming, takes longer to dry, and is more prone to cracking. It doesn’t tend to be as insulative either. Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.

A 50-pound mirror can be hung on drywall, but only if it has the support of strong hardware. Ideally, you can find the studs behind the drywall and attach the mirror to them; this will give your mirror better stability. Otherwise, confirm that you are using anchors appropriate to the weight of the mirrors. Another technique is to use French cleats—two pieces of wood that fit together, with one piece attached to the wall and the other to the mirror. This allows the weight to be distributed over a wider area.

It's generally recommended to hang drywall on the ceiling first before moving on to the walls. This sequence allows the ceiling sheets to provide support for the vertical wall sheets. By attaching the ceiling drywall initially, you establish a solid framework to align and attach the wall panels accurately. This method ensures a seamless and sturdy connection between the ceiling and walls, resulting in a more professional finish.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.
