"Rob was fantastic! I actually wanted him to do some landscaping but wound up hiring him to fix my broken gates. He went out got everything new himself & took away the old fence. He also added a gate to the other side of my house & again took the old fence away. Looks great! In fact so good I’m having him do my entire fence! He’s also reasonably priced & such a nice guy! Couldn’t be happier!"

"The team was punctual and professional. They had to finish a job someone else had started. Communication was good and they took extra steps where neccessary (like caulking the siding to trim joint behind the downspout in case the painter couldn't)."

"The work was scheduled to be done a few weeks in advance. He forgot, but did show up after I called him. He rescheduled twice to return and finish the trim. He sanded the walls, which went fine, practically no dust, and I have no complaints about that. The switch and the outlet were in the wrong place in the beadboard, and trim needed to be cut out around them. He slapped them on top of the trim. I asked him to cut out the trim around them, and he did, shoddily, and put the trim back up in the wrong place. When I asked him to return and fix it he said that it's hard to fix something someone else messed up (maybe true, but he was paid to do it). He made arrangements to return, then showed up at the wrong time and left his card in my mailbox; Oops, sorry I missed you, instead of calling me. I'm pretty sure I was home. Also, the price he charged me was 20% over the bid. He is TOO BUSY. I would not hire him again. I ended up fixing the trim myself, because I needed to paint."

"I was very pleased with the services provided today.  The handy men showed up on time, reviewed the list, and then set to work.    All work was done to my specifications and in a timely manner.  They even went the extra mile and moved one set of drapes from the old rods to the newly installed curtain rods, which helped me tremendously."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

You can buy wrought iron fencing from a trusted fence installation company near you. You could also opt to buy it privately from a homeowner who is interested in recycling their own wrought iron materials. Manufacturers stopped mass production of wrought iron as steel became more affordable to produce, so you likely won't find it in any local big box stores.

The type of horse fence that’s most effective in the short term depends on your budget. Plastic fencing works as a temporary fence idea for those on a tight budget but doesn’t offer as much protection. Pipe fencing can be a short-term option as well. Despite its high cost, you can install and remove it easily if you need to relocate your pasture area.

Green branches are more flexible and easier to work with, but they'll shrink as they dry, which can loosen your fence weave over time—so you'll need to weave them extra tight to account for shrinkage. Some species, particularly willow, may also try to sprout when used green. For these reasons, it’s typically easiest to use branches that have dried for a week or two.

Knowing how close to the property line you can build a fence is an important planning step in your fence installation project. In many U.S. states, you are allowed to build a fence directly on the property line as long as your neighbor signs off on the plan. But check with your state government because some states and municipalities require a couple of inches before your property line.

The bottom strand should sit between 12 to 15 inches from the ground. If you have a problem with small critters, you can aim for 8 inches. Three-strand fences should be 16 to 19 inches apart, four-strand fences should be 10 to 12 inches apart, and five-strand fences should be 8 and 10 inches apart.
