"Paul did an excellent job from initial contact to completing the job to replace an exterior door in the garage. He helped us buy the best new door at Lowes, and estimated the job. He arrived on the scheduled time for the door replacement and did meticulous work with great attention to detail. He made sure everything on the new installation fit properly and was correctly adjusted. Paul does excellent work and I highly recommend him."

"Gretchen did an excellent job for me clearing out clutter from closets and drawers and organizing them. She was pleasant, respectful and very professional. She threw out the garbage, made donation runs to charities and organized what was kept. I would highly recommend Organization Transformation for home or business organizing projects. I also plan to use Gretchen to organize a move of my residence in the near future."

Garage Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

During a garage door tune-up, a pro will check and adjust your door’s components, looking for any damage and loose cables, springs, or rollers. The pro will also lubricate moving parts, like the hinges and rollers, and likely tighten some screws and bolts. They’ll also adjust the door opener’s tension and alignment to make sure it’s level. Finally, they’ll wash the door to ensure it’s clean, and test the auto-reverse mechanism to make sure it’s working as it should.

The amount of paint needed to cover a two-car garage floor depends on the surface area and the product's coverage rate. On average, a standard two-car garage floor measures 400 to 500 square feet. Coverage ranges from 100 to 200 square feet per gallon for epoxy paint, depending on the product and application method. After some quick math, you may need 2 to 5 gallons of epoxy paint with two coats to cover a two-car garage floor.

Garage door sensors work by using infrared beams to detect objects in the door’s path. One sensor sends a beam while the other receives it. When the beam is broken—say, by your car or anything else—the sensors signal the door to stop or reverse. It’s all about safety and making sure nothing gets trapped under the door. If they’re misaligned, the beam doesn’t connect, and the garage door might stay open or close regardless of obstructions.

Garage doors are heavy and close under power, so ensuring they're safe should be one of the priorities of a homeowner. Installing at least one sensor is a good start, but it doesn't hurt to have two, especially considering you can install a secondary system for less than $100. Remember that sensors require calibration and simple but regular maintenance checks— installing them is only the first step.

If push comes to shove, and you need to manually open your garage door, then you should be able to do so. To manually open your garage door, first, make sure that the door is in the down position. You’ll need to unlock your garage door opener’s emergency release mechanism, which is typically a red robe that you can find on the carriage. Once you’ve pulled the cord, you can manually lower the door.

If your garage door is stuck in an open position, consider contacting a professional to safely release the opener.
