Small jobs welcome

"We highly recommend BNB Sealcoating. Brenden and Breanna responded very quickly for a quote on applying a 400 Degrees F plasticized sealer into the large cracks, applying a commercial grade sealer and then coming back the next day to apply a second coat. They did an outstanding job on our driveway."

"Had YB Asphalt Maintenance come out on 2 occasions, once for a 5000 square foot parking area and another for a 1000 foot long 12 foot wide driveway. The pricing was very fair and competitive, the quality of work was top notch. I would recommend YB Asphalt for any asphalt maintenance needs. Will call them in the future to seal my new pavement."

"We have a 1/4 mile long driveway and got 3 bids. Bca was the most professional and did not require a down payment to get started. The driveway turned out great and we would highly recommend them. We will be using them again when it s time to be seal coated."

Driveway Sealcoating FAQs, answered by experts

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

Oil-based sealers generally offer longer results for driveways in cold climates. If you experience extreme temperatures, oil sealants offer a level of flexibility that makes them expand and contract along with the freeze-thaw cycle instead of cracking.

In general, crack fillers last for about two years on average. That timeline can be shorter if you have extremely harsh winters or longer if you live in a mild climate. Luckily, this product is pretty affordable at the hardware store (about $10 to $30) and easy to DIY, so redoing it every few years shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.

The costs range from $0.15 to $0.50 per square foot, depending on the asphalt condition, sealant type, and labor.

If you don’t want to seal the entire driveway using a squeegee, you can use a roller instead. Rolling the driveway sealer also provides an even, sufficient coating, although it might require more skills to control the speed and pressure. We don’t recommend spraying the driveway sealer because it would cause more splash, hence wasting more material. If anything, you may spray the sealant and go over the surface again with a squeegee to ensure proper coating.
