"We had STL Design & Build remodel our bathroom and they were fantastic! They are knowledgeable and made the consultation and sales process easy. I got 3 other bids and they were the least expensive. I'm pretty particular and we were VERY impressed with the quality of their workmanship. Their crew was experienced, polite, punctual and finished the project early. They were patient in answering any questions I had and truly cared about doing a quality job. We were thrilled with the end result and will absolutely use them for our future home projects! If you have a home project and want to have a hassle free experience at a reasonable cost, I highly recommend STL Design & Build."

"The provider arrived ten minutes early.  He obviously knew everything he needed to know to do the job.  There were logistic problems because of the design of the attic space and he talked with me about them, giving me options.  In the end, he had to re-install some flexible duct work to raise it above the folding ladder.  He shopped for the necessary materials, including the wood for the door.  He finished the job in 6 hours.  At that point, he asked if I wanted him to paint the wooden door opening and I chose to do that myself, saving me some labor time. He took the time to clean-up after himself as well. I was extremely pleased."

"I typically don't hire people off a door knock. But I'm glad I did this time. Everyone was so nice, considerate and helpful. We had a new slider door installed where there was once a French door. I love it. The installation was fast and professional. It looks like door was a part of the original build on the house."

"We hired Brian to mud a previous door entrance that we had installed dry wall on. He was fast and extremely courteous. Heâ s been very responsive when my wife and I text him about future projects, costs, etc., which helps because we our first time home owners. We will definitely be hiring Brian in the future to help out with our remodeling projects and I recommend that you do the same! Jordan"

Doors questions, answered by experts

Minor modifications like grab bars and threshold ramps can be DIY, but professional services ensure compliance with ADA standards and structural safety.

The lifespan of your door depends on the door type, its wear and tear, and the weather conditions in your area. For instance, front doors last between 20 and 60 years, depending on the material. Garage doors, on the other hand, last between 15 and 30 years. Interior doors don’t get hit with the elements and can last between 20 and 50 years, if not more.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.

Replacing entryway doors can increase your home’s value and have a return on investment (ROI) of up to 65%. This includes sliding glass doors, which let in more natural light and complement a space's style. Sliding glass doors increase your home's curb appeal and can simplify the transition to your outdoor space.

You should prime interior doors before painting for the best results. If you do paint directly on the wood, you could see some of the grain patterns show through the paint, in which case you’d need to apply additional coats. Priming the surface before painting will reduce the number of coats and can better cover the grain pattern for a clean, finished look.
