"We had a 2nd story shower that had been leaking onto the 1st floor family room ceiling for quite some time. Anthony Morales came in and gave us a quote for repairing the shower area and replacing the tile. When mold was discovered, that was taken care of before continuing with replacing drywall and insulation. Anthony met us at a tile supply store and assisted in the design of the bathroom renovation. He was there every step of the way, always communicating with us his time schedule, how long things would take, and what was next to be done in our job. I would HIGHLY recommend Anthony Morales from DTS Family Plumbing Services for any plumbing or bath renovation! He is reliable, dependable, and has an outstanding work ethic. We will be calling Anthony (913-747-8301) for our upstairs hall bath renovation in the near future - it's a GREAT company!"

"Joe from JMS Drain Services was my service technician who arrived well within the window scheduled service time. Joe came in, inspected the sink to determine how to resolve my issue, took out the tool (snake apparatus) to clear the sink, and departed my premises within 15 minutes. I was pleased he resolved my clogged sink so quickly so I could rest after a night's work. Thank you again, Joe."

"I have needed to have these guys help me with my plumbing needs since I bought my home in 2005. None of the big name companies I've hired for help with my bathtub faucet drip did what Ricco did. Persevere, determined, to figure out if he could fix my cold water drip, ultimately, succeeding!! I don't want to tell his company how much he saved me...($400) by doing a fix instead of replacing entire pipe. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And, if I could post a picture here, I'd post the one with Ricco digging in to the repair inside my tub, while the apprentice supervisor over saw his work, my pug, Lucy sat quietly under his legs, and enjoyed getting petted. Thanks gentlemen!"

"It went extremely well.  The finished product is awesome.  Shawn has worked on many projects for me since 2009 including installing a new shower, putting in a French drain, repairing my deck and many repair jobs.  This project turned out beautifully and exceeded my expectations.  Shawn is very pleasant to deal with and goes out of his way to help with any problems you may have.  The people who work for him also do very good work.  He is very knowledgeable of all aspects of building and home repair and I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in repair or remodel."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You should hire a sewer service professional to unclog a main sewer line with tree roots. Tree roots can grow into the main sewer line, and this problem requires a specialized hydro jet, or rooter, that is powerful enough to clear the roots. The tree can also damage the main sewer line, and a professional will need to make repairs or replace the damaged sections. Sewer line replacement costs about $60 to $250 per linear foot.

A clogged sewer line is not typically covered by homeowner’s insurance, though some sewer line issues are covered. For instance, damage related to a fallen tree is usually covered. Though sewer line replacement is not covered in a standard insurance policy, some companies offer add-ons for this purpose. Read the fine print before spending your own money.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

A bit of water in the bowl can help unclog a toilet, especially if you're using a plunger. However, if the bowl is full to the brim, you'll need to strap on gloves and remove some of the wastewater in a cup or container so it doesn't overflow when you try to unblock the pipe. If you're concerned about it filling further, manually close the flapper in the toilet tank or turn off the water supply to the toilet.

If you're dealing with a clogged sink drain, you may be able to avoid removing the drain by using a plunger to dislodge the clog. While we associate plungers with toilets, they can do the same job with your sink drain. Be gentle, though, as forceful movements can push clogs further into your plumbing system and make them more difficult to remove. Additionally, make sure you’re using a sink plunger—with a flat bottom—and not a toilet plunger—which has a smaller bottom protruding from the larger flat piece.
