"Only rating 1 because it doesn't go lower. Had a new unit installed end of Sept 24. First time power goes out on 11/5, no electricity. When tri state sells you a product, they pitch their amazing customer service with all these guarnatees of knowing when your unit is out before you know and having someone there within 24 hours etc. Well, the first call we make we are told it will be the end of Nov to get someone out to look at it. 3 weeks. Nobody shows up. Then we get a call that says "your appointment on Dec 12 has been canceled and the earliest we can get to you is Jan 16th. This is 2.5 months wait to get service to fix a nearly $20k unit, that is upcharged because of the excellent service. You can't get anyone to answer your call. you wait on hold for 20 minutes, then have to leave a voicemail in which you will not get called back. Based on my experience, find someone else and pay less. Even if the service is bad, which it can't be worse than this, you save money! @kohler"

  • Drip irrigation involves drip lines that are more efficient than sprinklers for more extensive lawns. This involves a lot of digging since they are installed underground, but it makes it easy for you to mow.

  • Rainwater collection and irrigation uses nature’s precipitation to water your lawn. This option might not be available in every area since semi-reliable rainfall is needed, though the barrels for this system can range from 15 gallons to 10,000 gallons or more.

Plants benefit from slow, deep watering. This means you have to use enough water to penetrate the soil. Ideally, spend 30 seconds watering each specific plant or area in your garden. In total, a garden in sandy soil needs about 10 to 15 minutes of water, and a garden in clay soil needs 20 to 30 minutes of water. Use a low setting with a high-pressure spray to avoid damaging the roots.

You can expect your water bill to increase when you use your sprinkler systems, but how much it will increase depends on your water company. To keep water bills as low as possible, only use your sprinkler system when you need to, particularly during hot summer months when there hasn’t been much rain. Keep an eye on your bill, so you have an idea of how much it goes up because excessive jumps in your bill amount could be a sign of a leak in your sprinkler system or elsewhere in your home.

In most cases, no, you shouldn’t run your sprinklers every day. Most lawns need one to three watering sessions per week, depending on the grass type, amount of rainfall in your area, and soil type. However, there is an exception: If you have newly seeded or sodded grass, you should water your lawn twice per day for the first few weeks.
