Well, it was a demonstration. Over three hours (YES -- if only I had billed for those hours, I'm sure it could have gone more quickly!) of my Saturday time was completely wasted.
The water-softening system (they don't call it a water softener, but that's basically what it is) probably is very good, but while I was considering doing my research and maybe even purchasing the system (even though they tricked me), I lost ALL interest when I learned I had to make the decision THAT DAY to get the special pricing and the "free" annual supply of laundry soap. When the pressure is that high, there probably is something wrong.
The sales representative (they call themselves something else, like water treatment engineers or some silliness) was quite well-trained and very personable. Good enough that I considered looking into the system further until she started with that "you must buy today" part of the pitch. At that point, I knew none of it was sincere. Just a good old-fashioned bait and switch.
I will say when we said that we had to think about things she was not high pressure sales. However, $5,000+ for a home system is incredibly high and given reviews I have read on line there are random other costs that can crop up as well.
Overall, a waste of our weekend and we are looking for a different solution.
I purchased a inexpensive Whirlpool water softener from Lowes back in February and am VERY HAPPY!!!! It uses so much less salt and the water feels incredible!!
So, in conclusion, save yourself a bundle of money by NOT purchasing a Rainsoft water softener, and if you have an older one that has problems, DO NOT let them "get it working"...you will be sorry.
