The other bid was slightly lower than the one from Maplewood Plumbing, but they stopped responding to my questions after I asked them two times. I understand that if it was just a $200 job, then it would not be worth the time, but $2,500 was no chump change. Couldn't I ask just a couple more questions to make sure I knew what I was getting into? Maplewood plumbing was different, from start to finish. They even came out a second time to take a closer look to reassure me on what needed to be moved or removed first in order to start their work. I doubt many companies would want to do that. The plumbers working on the job were happy to answer questions as well. There was a small drip in the water supply line/shutoff valve area of the toilet after they were done with the job, They fixed it after a call. Some companies just leave these loose ends unfixed, but they didn't. The office staff was also responsive and professional. All in all, they were such a pleasure to work with. Will definitely hire them for future plumbing needs."

Below is the story. I needed to have the upper stack of the toilet replaced and have a new toilet installed. Of the 3 companies I called, only Kirkwood Plumbing sent a master plumber, a plus. Paul was very observant and identified the least intrusive manner I was chip to complete the tasks, which in an old home, was not simple. Although not the least expensive bid, I accepted it based on the confidence Paul inspired. That was a very good decision. Greg arrived on time at the appointment date and immediately went to work. He is a capable plumber who worked very hard and efficiently, a plus. He had a great manner with his assistant and it was a pleasure to observe them working together. Greg was determined to leave me with running water and a functional toilet by the time he had to leave, and that was much appreciated. To that end, however, he did not take the time to go back to get the correct saw to cut through the cabinet and wall and thus created sufficient dust particles to saturate the air. Nor did he go back to get the correct shut off valve so he didn't install one. Those were negatives. After he left, I noticed that I could no longer open the faucets in the bathroom so I got in touch with Kirkwood plumbing. They immediately rescheduled a return visit, a positive. Greg attended to the issues that remained but couldn't repair the faucet problem. Although he was convinced that he did not cause this problem, he called Jason in to take over, another plus. Jason is a very thoughtful, methodical plumber who calmly and efficiently repaired the problem. I don't know if he thought this issue was a separate or related problem but he refused any additional payment that I offered, another plus."

"This is a good company to deal with. James, the owner, was out within one hour to diagnose our problem. The next morning the technicians, Brian and Josh were out to take care of our drain issues. Brian made a point of showing me the camera footage of the main drain. The did a great job on the main and two other drains. They also cleaned up very well when they were done. Brian also noticed an issue with our bathtub stopper and fixed it without an extra charge. The pricing was transparent. They have a nice email notice system and called when they were on the way. "They did get the job done. Problem was 2 weeks ago it was clogged with "flushable" wipes and yesterday another wad of wipes. I literally stopped using them before ever calling the plumbers realizing they were the issue. He fixed the clog free this time but insinuated the idea that it was my fault. Unless they got stuck in the pipes on the way to the basement not my fault for the second time. Unsure about hiring again."
