"I could not be happier with the final product! The first pic is the old bathroom from the 60s when the house was built. The rest are the final rebuild and it looks great. I would highly recommend VMK Remodeling for any project that you might have. I am also going to get a bid on redoing the deck on the back of the house as Vince's company does decks as well! Thanks to his great crew as well, great people to work with."

"Because two of them came the 2 hours of electrical work for $99 was really only 1 hour. They claimed they could only get the outlet and one ceiling fan installed. To do the second ceiling fan they wanted something like another $170! Well, I thought, this is is the last time I'll hire these guys. The work was fine. The 2 hours was a little bit of a scam and if you hire them at their normal rate you take it up the nose."

"We found Good Neighbors through Angie's List in January.   They had outstanding recommendations from previous customers on the website and we are a very happy and very satisfied customer.
We had our 30 year old master bathroom gutted and we replaced everything.  Good Neighbors installed walls, ceiling, new tile floor, new cabinets, dual sinks, mirrors and replaced the old bathtub with an amazing, custom built, tiled shower.
Steve, our first Good Neighbors contact and co-owner was on time, polite, knew the business of remodeling and was accurate with his estimate.
Tom, the other co-owner and in charge of construction contacted us and explained the construction process.  He addressed the problems we would encounter (dust, noise and storage of materials in our garage).   Tom made us very aware of what was going to happen over the next 5 weeks, step by step.
The project manager, Jeff,  was the most polite man we have ever met.   His associate Caleb was every bit as friendly.   Every day they provided an explanation of what was going to occur that day and again they made every effort to contain the inevitable dust and the noise.
The daily preparation and clean up was impressive.   Every morning they laid canvas on the stairs, the hallway and the bedroom floor to keep the carpets clean.  Every evening, the bathroom and adjoining bedroom were vacuumed, the mess cleaned up and the tools were stacked.    Then they folded a put away the canvas and moved outside to clean up the construction debris from saws, tile cutters, etc.     I have to tell everybody - We were impressed with the cleanup.
The job grew from the original estimate as we had them add crown molding and repaint the master bedroom.
Regarding a recommendation,  I would not hesitate to have them do our next project and they probably will.

"Mike came in and looked around the house and gave a good estimate on the work we requested to have done to the house.  We scheduled a day to start and because he became open sooner he called and informed us that he can come a day early.

To start off, if he said that they were going to be at the house a certain time to start work the previous day it was always 30 or more later.  That didn't bother me as much since I was planning to be at the house anyways.

There were definitely some bumps during the work.  Trim wasn't cut correctly, the right paint color wasn't on the right wall, and the walls were not smoothed out as it should have been.  The trim was corrected as well as the paint color was changed to the correct color.  They also mudded areas we didn't know about which was good but the areas that stood out to us the most didn't get fixed right away until we mentioned it on the last day.  I didn't like the fact that they were working on all the rooms at the same time, meaning not one area was completely finished before they started on the next room, which drove me crazy because every room in the house was a mess all at the same time.

To sum up the finish product, they are not good at making clean cut lines in the ceiling and trim which I had to go back after they finished and repaint the tops of trim and doors.  They did fix most of the cut lines in the ceiling but then the paint also doesn't go up to the ceiling, rather just below it (I guess it's better than having the paint on the ceiling).  There are areas on the wall where you can still see the primer underneath.  There are also spots where they mudded and didn't sand out the area before they painted or smooth out bump on the wall before they painted over it whether it was there before or they did it themselves.  There are also drip marks in many areas and areas where they glopped the paint on the wall.

As for the mess, they were suppose to use the outside hose to clean their brushes.  But got lazy and used our sinks and tubs and I ended up scrubbing everything to get the paint off, which the tub is textured with a non slip so I cannot get the paint off unless I actually scrub with a brush.  My car was also parked outside of the garage because they mudded the garage and got paint on my car which I will also have to take the time out to pick the paint off the car.  That wasn't the only areas they got paint.  My leather sofa and chairs downstairs had paint on them as well as the entertainment center and coffee table.  The duvet cover in our master bedroom has a streak of paint on the bottom as well as all the furniture peices in every bedroom had paint on them.  Yes, it wasn't too hard to get the paint off of almost everything except the fabric and an area on the carpet where someone dropped a roller (The carpet cleaners that came the next day couldn't even get it out) but that isn't something that I should have to worry about if you were professional painters.

So all in all, a C over all was being very generous and that's only because you came and fixed 75% of the mistakes already made and because you gave a good price (but now I can see the quality for the price I paid for).  The more I cleaned up my house the more I regretted hiring Michael's Work.  I think the people who reviewed this company previously that were stood up were the lucky ones.

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can install a ceiling fan where a standard light fixture is, as the electrical wiring is often similar and may not need to be replaced. The most important step is to ensure the ceiling can support the fan's weight and motion. You will need to replace the existing light fixture's electrical box with a fan-rated electrical box, which is specifically designed to handle the extra weight and vibration. These boxes will be labeled as suitable for ceiling fan support and will indicate the maximum weight they can hold. Before you begin, also consider if you need an extension rod for a high ceiling or a special mount for an angled ceiling.

The direction your ceiling fan spins helps create comfortable airflow in your home and can also help cut down on energy costs.

During summer, your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. This will push cooler air downward in a column and help lower your room’s air temperature. In the winter, set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise and at the lowest speed setting. This will pull cool air upwards, displacing the warm air that pools towards the top of your ceiling and bringing it down towards the floor.

Ceiling fans require periodic cleaning of blades to avoid dust accumulation, checking screws and connections for firmness, and occasional lubrication for components, keeping the fan running smoothly and quietly over time.

A typical fan installation takes between two and six hours. The exact timeframe can be influenced by factors such as the home's structure, existing electrical characteristics, ease of attic access, and whether complex wiring or additional attic ventilation work is required.

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.
