The best way to transport a TV is to wrap and pack it tightly in a TV moving box with plenty of padding to protect it from damage. If a box is not available, you can use moving straps and moving blankets to secure the TV in an upright position within the moving vehicle. To prevent it from shifting during transportation, place large pieces of furniture around it for stability.

Moving straps like forearm or shoulder straps can usually support up to 800 pounds, sometimes more with specialized straps. However, that doesn’t mean that one person can always lift that much weight, just that the straps are rated for that amount. For example, some straps require two people working together to balance the weight of the heavy item.

You only need to worry about assembling large pieces, like a sofa, in order to fit through existing door frames and hallways. Before you disassemble anything, take measurements of your furniture and talk to your moving company about what should be taken apart prior to moving.
