"JT Dunn Climate Control won my business by being honest and letting me know what would be in my best interest on the maintenance of two HVAC systems in an industrial building of mine. They were very thorough and saved me a lot of money. Then as part of a renovation project they removed two older systems and replaced them with one, installed four new gas infrared heaters on the dock, repaired an old heater, removed other old equipment, and repaired ductwork. They were excellent in every way. They are reliable and trustworthy. They are definitely going to maintain my systems going forward. And they are now the first HVAC company on my list for any project. Next, I'm going to ask them to quote the replacement of my 18-year-old home HVAC system."

"Steve arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the problem with the water heater, gave me options to fix/replace without trying to steer me to one option or the other, and answered my questions. I opted for replacement and he got the appointment set up for the next day so we wouldn't be without hot water any longer than necessary."

Customers say: Quick response

"We have used this company for both rental and owner-occupied properties. They replaced the roof, gutters, and worked with the company to make sure that our awnings and other items were replaced. They also worked very well with our insurance company and we had no problems at all. Jacob made everything so easy that if we ever need anything else done and they can do it, they have the job."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Not all types of water heaters require a venting system. Electric tankless water heaters don’t use natural or propane gas, so no venting is required. Instead, they use electric burners to heat water quickly and efficiently. However, any system that does use gas or propane will require ventilation.

We recommend you turn off the unit, the power, and the water supply as soon as you notice a leak. Your water heater tank should have a dedicated shut-off valve located on the cold inlet pipes. If the valve is broken or inoperable, use the shut-off valve to your home's main water supply to stop the flow to the entire house.

Avoid touching valves or pipes directly without confirming if they are hot. Wear gloves and other safety gear to keep from coming into contact with hot levers or components when turning off your leaking water heater.

If you want instant hot water and to reduce water waste while improving convenience, a hot water recirculating system is worth it, especially if you find your hot water heater is not hot enough. These systems can save thousands of gallons of water each year so you don't have to wait for hot water at faucets and showers. The upfront investment can be high, especially for systems requiring additional plumbing, but the long-term savings on water bills and added comfort make them a worthwhile upgrade.

Every city and state will have its own set of installation codes and laws. Some won’t require you to obtain a permit before replacing your water heater, though we recommend you do, regardless of the local codes. On the other hand, some cities and states might require secondary permits for plumbing and electrical work related to the installation. Check with a local water heater installation company and local building codes to confirm which permits are required and what the specific laws are.

If you have a tank-type electric water heater, it runs regularly to keep the water at the desired temperature. If you live in a home where you don’t use much hot water, it could seem wasteful to run power to heat water that you’re using infrequently. You could save some power by using a smaller tank, insulating the tank, or lowering the temperature of the water heater.
