"Mike at Mold One was incredibly helpful. He gave me great information and lined up an appointment quickly for mold remediation. My wife has struggled literally her entire life with being sick and unwell and having chronic headaches and fatigue and poor sleep and mood swings and food allergies and the list goes on. We've been to countless doctors, bought countless supplements, tried several diets, done allergy testing, been to chiropractors, done hormone replacement therapy, etc. We recently found mold in our home and began looking into mold as a possible cause for her poor health. All of a sudden, things started lining up. Mold sickness symptoms are myriad, so nearly any symptoms could fit under mold sickness as a possible cause. We did a TON of research, found Mold One, did more research on their paracetic acid dry fog technique and found research articles from 3rd party labs supporting the effectiveness as well as safety of the procedure. My wife was pregnant at the time of treatment, so we wanted to be 100% sure that the treatment would be safe for her and for our baby and other young children. Once we were satisfied with the safety of the process, we hired Mold One and they had us lined up within the week. We only had to be out of our home for about 5 hours for the process. Upon returning, there was a faint vinegar smell in the house. My wife slept better that night than she ever had, and within 2 days, she was feeling SO MUCH BETTER. In fact, over the coming days/weeks, even though she was 8 months pregnant, she felt better then that she or I ever remember her being. She had energy, her mood was better, she slept better and needed less sleep. This was truly miraculous. We had tested the house for mycotoxins through Mycometrics prior to hiring mold one and found very high levels of Aspergillus. About a month after the mold treatment, my wife did a urinalysis through Great Plains Lab for mycotoxins and she was off the charts for Aspergillus. The body can take up to several years of detox to get all that out of the system, so no surprise that a month later it wasn't all gone. This was just proof that that mycotoxin was present at very high levels in her body as well as our home. And here's another shout out to the customer service and generosity of Mike and Mold One. About 2 months after the mold treatment, I was working on replacing my roof. A micro-storm came out of nowhere while I had the roof open and absolutely SOAKED everything. We had water dripping through the light fixtures inside and huge water spots showing all over our ceilings. This was hugely discouraging. After the storm passed, I called Mike and explained the whole thing and asked his advice since now we're a pitri dish for mold. Mike offered to send his guys back out to re-treat our home for free and consider it covered by warranty, even though it would have been easy and obvious to consider this new water damage not covered by warranty. I can't say enough of how great Mold One and Mike have been, and what a life changing impact their mold treatment of our home has had on my wife. Thank God that he led us to this solution for my family's health."

Small jobs welcome

"Overall was good for what the service is. The technician was a postal worker and home inspector. So mold test company appears to be brokers. Their pricing was competitive from other quotes I received but I honestly think it was pricey for time spent and what they do. But like I said the price was pretty standard from the companies I called, in my opinion. But the technician was attentive and knowledgeable, and friendly."

"I am writing this review to let other homeowners know that if they are unfortunately in need of foundation repair that the best company capable of handling the job is Advanced foundation repair & replacement. I have a two story home. The entire back and side wall had settled over six inches ( a total distance of seventy five feet). At the side of the house we have a masonry fireplace that had settled significantly as well. Then owner Frank Matyiko hooked up his exclusive unified jacking machine. Frank provided us with a licensed structural engineer that stamped all fazes of construction. He assured me that our house would be a piece of cake. He was right. Advanced leveled the back of my house along with the fireplace with his unified machine. Not a crack in the house. Not a crack in the fireplace. His team was polite courteous and most importantly fixed our problem. Price: $13,500. Thank you Frankie!!!!!"

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Several factors affect the color of mold, including humidity levels, age of the mold, and amount of light it receives. A patch of mold that starts out green may darken and turn black as it ages. A species of mold may be green if growing in one environment, but be black in another environment. Color usually isn't a reliable way to determine mold species or risk.

Beyond looking for visible signs of mold in a home, you can tell if your house has mold by undertaking testing. You can hire a local mold testing company to run the test for you, giving you a sure answer. Professional testing is often the best way to determine whether you have mold, as some types of mold may grow in places where you can’t easily see them, such as behind walls.

Mold can greatly impact your home's appraisal and lower your selling price if your home's on the market. Home appraisers take mold into account when figuring out a property's overall value. Mold will lower your home's price because it poses a health risk to household members and can compromise the structural integrity of the house. Mold will require remediation, which in extreme cases can be costly, so that is factored into your home's appraisal as well.

Running an air conditioner with mold is not safe because it can spread harmful mold spores throughout your home. Exposure to these spores can trigger various health problems, including respiratory issues, allergies, coughing, wheezing, sneezing, itchy eyes, and a sore throat. It may also aggravate asthma in household members. Continued exposure can increase the risk of more serious illnesses like sinus infections, pneumonia, and bronchitis. If you suspect mold in your air conditioner, you should stop using the system until it has been properly cleaned to avoid health risks and further contamination.

Mold grows in areas with humidity levels above 60%, but ideal conditions for mold growth occur when humidity is between 70% and 90%, especially in poorly ventilated areas. To prevent mold growth, aim to maintain indoor humidity levels between 30% and 50% using dehumidifiers, proper ventilation, and temperature control. Regularly check your home's humidity with a hygrometer to help you monitor and avoid conditions conducive to mold.
