"Job went perfect. I was approved for financing the day I called. When the contractor came out for the bid, he made a materials and labor suggestion based on our needs. The original estimate of 9k worth of unnecessary privacy fencing, that I could not afford, went down to 2.5k of sturdy chain link providing a safe play space for our rescue dog. The contractor said they are more interested in helping customers out than making large sales. The fence is very professional. It is even wired into the ground so our dog cannot dig under it. The city inspector said it was a "perfect" construction job. Finished in under 8 hours. Roughly 100 feet of chain link, posts, concrete, plus gate. High quality materials and the yard was spotless when the job was finished. Very trustworthy. I feel strongly that I got what I paid for. Peace of mind that my dog, a known short fence jumper, is safe as well as my yard and padlocked gate. The most important part, is that my dog LOVES the freedom of having a large yard to run freely in."

"With a slight delay due to COVID, the work was very well done. Plaster repairs were completed, all furniture was moved away from the walls, the floors were covered. The colors were exactly as I requested, including the crown molding. The work was completed in the time quoted and for the estimated cost."

"On June 25,2013 I purchased  a "Big Deal" of $99 for 2 hours of electrical labor from Dunn Home Improvements.  My whole house fan had stopped working several weeks earlier, and I hoped it might be an electrical problem.  Shortly after I purchased by condo in 2009, I had some problems with this fan.  At that time, my condo was covered by a "Home Warranty" which had been purchased by the seller.  So in 2009 I called the electrician the Home Warranty company suggested.  He changed out the wall switch which controlled the fan.  Instead of 2 speeds, the fan then had only 1 speed-- but it did seem to work OK.
The last couple of summers have been so hot that I had no real reason to use the whole house fan.  I was using  my A/C pretty much all the time.
This spring, we had several days of pleasant days and even more pleasant evenings--perfect time to use a whole house fan.  Unfortunately, after several evenings of using the fan, it just stopped working.  I hoped it was an electrical problem, as it had been in 2009.
Dunn Home Improvements contacted me via email and we scheduled an appointment for July 17.2013.
Mike and Bryson arrived right on time-- in fact a few minutes early.  At first, the fan worked OK and I felt really silly!  But then after a few minutes, the fan stopped again.  The men checked out the wall switch, and the electrical panel.  They then brought in a ladder and climbed up to check out the actual fan.  As it happened, the real problem was that the fan motor was over-heating.  So the repair will require repair or replacement of the fan it-self, at a cost of several hundred dollars.
At this time, I was not prepared to spend that much money on a fan that I used only occasionally.
So, while Mike and Bryson were not actually able to fix my electrical problem, I did appreciate their persistence in diagnosing the problem.
When the time comes to fix my fan, I will know what expense to expect.
Mike and Bryson were great--they were polite , considerate, and knowledgeable.
In addition, Josh Dunn at Dunn Home Improvements was very professional, responsive, and accommodating.  I would definitely use them again.

"

I contacted HMR and asked that they provide me with an estimate to remove my existing chain-link fence and install a six foot vinyl privacy fence.  They showed up the same day and gave me, what I considered to be, a very reasonable price to perform the work and provide all the materials. (Much lower than the others)  So I chose HMR.

They scheduled me for the following Saturday.  They arrived at 7 a.m. as scheduled and were finished that afternoon.  I was very impressed with their knowledge and willingness to clean everything up afterwards.  If you're considering a new fence, I would definitely recommend these guys!

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

Double gates come with the same gaps as single gates, with hinges taking up a quarter of an inch of space. The difference is that double fence gates also have a center gap, which needs a little more clearance. Space the center gap at half an inch instead of the usual three-eighths of an inch for a single gate.

A gate shouldn’t be higher or lower than the fence it's attached to. If the gate is lower than the fence, it encourages strangers to peek at your property. If the gate is higher than the fence, it just looks weird. Gates allow for increased security and aesthetics, so ensure the gate rests at the same height as the fence.

Yes, you can convert manual gates to electric operation. Installing a motor and an opening device from a kit allows you to convert any gate so it can open and close automatically. Be sure to buy the correct type of opener for your gate style. For example, some openers are specific to swinging gates, while others are for sliding gates. Get familiar with your swinging or sliding gate parts before you go shopping to avoid having to return to the store for the correct opener.

Yes, most electric and automatic gates can be opened manually. They are equipped with a manual override or release mechanism that detaches the motor from the gate, allowing it to be moved by hand. This feature is essential during power outages or other emergencies.

To activate the manual override, you will typically need a specific key or tool. In some cases, you may also need a screwdriver to remove a cover to access the release mechanism. The use of a key is a common security measure to prevent unauthorized individuals from manually opening the gate.

Because every model is different, it is highly recommended to consult your gate's user manual to familiarize yourself with the specific procedure before you need to use it. Keep any necessary keys or tools in an accessible location. Be aware that automatic gates can be very heavy, so opening and closing them manually may be difficult.

In North America, electric gates are also subject to the UL 325 Standard for Safety, which includes provisions to allow emergency responders to access the property.

The obvious disadvantage of an automatic gate is that it runs on electricity. If the power goes out, it won’t open or close unless there’s a manual override. Many homeowners will need a backup generator so they don’t get stuck on either side of the gate, particularly when looking to park a vehicle. Automatic gates are also much more complicated than manual gates, with tech-heavy components that make them more expensive to repair.
