"Our pool is 37 years old and we were trying to figure out how to keep the pool without spending lots of dollars on a replacement. Pro Basement offered an optional plan that will allow us to keep our pool and extend the life of the existing pool by repairing a problem area and fixing a drainage problem that caused an erosion on the one side. The company representatives immediately diagnosed the problem and installed a drainage system that will help with the pool and a water problem we had encountered due to the house settling. They gave us a starting date and flooded our yard with workers to excavate, install, and concrete their solution in a very short amount of time. I highly recommend and will use again if needed."

"What I learned through this process is that no matter how good you are and how much experience you have building pools, it's still a multi-phased project that is dependent on the weather. I contracted with Prestige because they have 30+ years in the business. They know what to do and what not to do and advised accordingly. The pool was recently completed and is exactly what I wanted. The sales rep who worked on my pool design tied in the existing patio and created a great space for outdoor seating facing the pool and woods. Everyone who came out from Prestige was knowledgeable and friendly. I went with a vinyl liner in-ground pool because my neighbor who has an in-ground fiberglass pool recently paid $15k to repair it. I figured a liner replacement down the road is cheaper than a fiberglass repair. My pool was about half the total project cost. The other half consists of a head pump, extra concrete decking, stone wall, fence, cool deck coating with stone border around pool, and cantilever coping."

"Amazing Customer Service!! Taylor and Jacob both did a great job closing our pool this past year. Both of them were friendly and very knowledgeable with any questions I had. They texted me before showing up to close my pool and throughout the entire experience there was great communication which is very hard to come by. I 100% recommend this company. We are already scheduled for our pool opening this fall :)"

"I found this company thru Home Advisors seemed they had good reviews so I thought I would give them a try. They replaced my pool liner and it looks great. They did it in a timely fashion and were always available to answer all my questions. I had them fix some equipment issues I had while they were there and now its like I have a new pool. I would use them again and recommend to friends or family."

"The job was very professionally done. They were respectful of property, work was done on time and kept us informed of any updates or problems. Job site was clean and care taken when using machinery. Our pool was 50 years old and looks like a brand new pool now. Tom and Ben know their business well and have a great crew. If Tom makes any suggestions listen because he knows his business well in all aspects. Job was completed and came back promptly to finish a few minor repairs. We would definitely hire again for any future needs. They were very reasonable which helps in these times. Jan and Steve"

Pool Construction and Installation questions, answered by experts

Soil testers and licensed excavators are often the professionals you hire if you need a perc test. In some cases, structural engineers will also be able to conduct the test for you. In many municipalities, you’ll need your professional on-site to dig and fill the holes with water, as well as a representative from your local building department or health department. That representative is the individual who will determine whether your test passes or fails.

Framing is often the most expensive phase of building a house because it’s time-consuming and requires a lot of materials. It costs between $20,000 and $50,000 on average, depending on materials and labor costs. Before construction begins, it’s possible that purchasing land is the priciest step in the process. Some plots of land sell for $3,000, while others cost upwards of $150,000.

This is fairly rare, but sometimes the local government or a group like a historical society will label a tree as a landmark, or historical item. These designations almost always come with a small, on-site plaque for identification, but you should also be able to look up protected trees in your area on a city website or similar list. If the tree in question is a landmark, call your local government and ask how to proceed before making any plans.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

If you can’t find any records online, you’ll need to contact your county clerk’s office to do further research. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. You can also speak with your neighbors about when their houses were built because they were likely built around the same time.
