"Michael, Tommy & Aiden did a fantastic job removing our separate shower and bathtub and converting the tub space into a walk in shower. The guys were respectful, and helpful with any questions we had. They kept us informed with each step of the way. They cleaned up before the job was over and went over instructions. Highly recommend Jaccuzizi and this crew."

"They did a really good job replacing a bathtub with a walk-in shower. There were a few complications with the drain but everything looks great."

"Darryll and Angie were fantastic throughout the entire process. Shortly after we selected GA Chott there was a medical situation in our family that caused us to delay the project and they were very understanding and responsive to our needs. When it came time to choose the materials and accessories, Darryll was very incredible helping in guiding our family through our selections, even making recommendations on lower price options that he felt represented better value. My wife had concerns about potential water damage behind some of the walls that weren't being replaced. Darryll told us that water damage in those areas was highly unlikely in the absence of other signs. He said he would be willing to do the extra work but that if it was his bathroom he wouldn't do it, because it would be spending well over a thousand dollars on something that wasn't likely to provide any value. When the time came to start the remodel the workers were extremely professional, courteous, and kept us informed every step of the way. We decided to make a change to how we originally had planned the electrical work which they accommodated without hesitation or additional charge even though it was more work. They finished the remodel two days before the estimate and the results were fantastic. It has been 3 months since the work was completed and have no concerns about the quality of the work. I would (and have) highly recommend GA Chott to anyone looking to do home remodeling. They clearly care about delivering great service, at a fair price, and developing long-term customers."

Customers say: Quick response

"We had our main bathroom gutted and remodeled. Replaced a tub with a walk in shower. Redid drywall, flooring, plumbing, and electrical. The job was started on the day we picked and done within the time frame that was promised. They arrived at the time they said they would each day and did a good job cleaning up as they went along. Everyone was friendly and easy to work with. They also were great with our two dogs. Working with an older home always has additional challenges. Every challenge like an additional layer of drywall having to be ripped out and replaced correctly was done while staying on budget. They really took the time to make sure that everything was just what we wanted and the way we wanted it. I would highly recommend Romine Contracting to my family and friends. We will definitely be calling him again when we are ready for our next remodel project. Thanks Vinny Beth & Bob"

"Great presentation by Nick. Very nice, informative, professional and knowledgeable. Super quality products and vert6competitive pricing. Because of very busy installation schedules, it will take 4-6 weeks before walkin shower remodel can happen. We can wait, no problem. It will be worth it."

"Shawn (owner) and his men (AJ, Eddie & Mike) were very professional, courteous & pleasant to work with. They protected my flooring throughout my home and cleaned up their work every day throughout the duration of the project. Many thanks to AJ who was very particular in making sure it was done right. I wouldn't hesitate to use CoCara again, especially knowing they not only do bathroom remodels, but other work as well."

"Gary was prompt, professional, and courteous. He confirmed my suspicions that the addition, built without a permit by a previous owner, was in such poor condition that it would be more cost-effective to demolish it than to repair it. He confirmed my research about how best to replace the collapsing retaining wall. He also confirmed my thought that the whole yard would have to be regraded, to prevent future water damage to a new wall and any new construction to replace the addition. He was very knowledgeable and willing to educate.
Gary gave me a ballpark estimate for the entire amount of work that needed to be done. We decided to go with someone else, though.
I took my time and collected estimates from five different landscapers and/or contractors for the work. I liked the idea of using Kimberlin because they were the only company we considered that could handle both the construction and the landscaping work. I had thought that might save money. But Kimberlin's estimate was on the high side. By using a separate landscaper and deck-builder I am spending about 20% less, total.
Also, Gary didn't seem to be eager to take on the work. He strongly emphasized how expensive it would be. I had the impression that he thought that the property was not worth the investment. True, property values have dropped quite a lot. But we intend to live here for many more years. All in all, I'd rather work with someone as enthusiastic as my husband and I are about restoring an old house in the city, even if the neighborhood is not high rent."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

A peeling bathtub is not a good thing. It’s a sign that the finish is coming off, and continued exposure to water and cleaning products can continue to damage the finish and eventually the underlying structure of the tub. What starts as a few chips or flakes can worsen into large chunks peeling off.

A standard bathtub can be used for soaking, but they tend to be shallower (between 15 and 18 inches deep). A soaking tub is designed to be deep enough to totally submerge yourself in the water (about 20 and 24 inches deep). Additionally, most soaking tubs are freestanding, while regular bathtubs come in various styles with drop-in, surround, and wall-mounted options available.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.
