"I was so impressed by Kemoy and his professionalism. He called me within 5 minutes of my request and was here by 8:00 the next morning to replace my water heater. He did excellent work, cleaned up everything when he was done and made sure that I let him know if I had any problems. I will definitely be handing out his business cards and using him again for any of my plumbing needs."

"Great. Old water heater busted during the holidays. Don came out to replace with a tankless model on New Years Day. He came back a few days later to address a whistle noise (fixed with a larger gas line) and install recirculation line for instant hot water to back of house at no additional charge. I'd recommend Road Runner highly based on my experience."

"They are great, they installed my water heater and removed the old one and showed the problems and damage. The cost of the projects was amazingly reasonable. Very fun and polite and gets the job finished in a timely manner. Dwayne is very immediate and results in producing effective actions such as phone calls and following up."

"We pay yearly but we have this is included with our rental property. They are pretty good on most things. We had a hot water heater replaced and they did an excellent job on that. They are very quick on their response. They dont come out here. It is all done on the internet.  I just like the idea that one time service charge is so much better than trying to hiring someone to come in. It is more about convenience. It pays for itself."

"Charles replaced our a/c and heating (and added humidifier to our heating system). The work was excellent, it has been over a year and we have had zero issues, everything works like a dream! We have also hired Charles for other projects. He has replaced ceiling fans, a toilet, light fixtures, hard wired smoke detectors, etc. Charles is awesome! We are incredibly happy with the entire experience and the results!! Thanks, Charles!"

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

In most municipalities, a license is not mandatory for water heater installation or replacement. However, we strongly recommend hiring a licensed plumber or water heater installer to handle the work. Licensed installers are far less likely to make a mistake during the installation, which means paying for the experience decreases your risk of a leak and other issues. You can use our state licensing tool to find out if a contractor you’re considering in your area holds a plumber’s license.

Tankless water heaters are more expensive than those with a storage tank, but they come with some impressive benefits that most homeowners find worth the higher investment. Most importantly, they provide unlimited hot water, so you’ll never run out like you would with a storage tank. Tankless heaters are also more efficient, so comparing gallon-for-gallon, you’ll spend less on hot water with a tankless heater. Tankless water heaters are also smaller, require less maintenance, and tend to last longer than storage tank water heaters.

One of the primary benefits of a heat pump water heater is how cost-effective it is. How much you save will depend on your water usage and electricity costs. That being said, we can ballpark savings for the average home of between $100 and $500 per year. You can increase that savings rate by researching and applying available energy incentives available in your area. If you really want to focus on cost, consider a tankless water heater.

Yes, you can convert a gas water heater to an electric one, but it is a complex process. You will need to ensure there is adequate power for the new electric unit, as they require more power than gas models. The project also involves safely closing off the gas lines and ventilation, and some cities may require a permit for the conversion. The cost can range from $1,500 to $4,100, depending on the installation scope, plumbing and electrical work, and the water heater model. For an accurate quote, it's best to contact a local professional. Also, be aware that your monthly utility bills may increase after the conversion, as natural gas is typically cheaper than electricity.

Yes, you can replace a current tank water heater with a tankless model or vice versa. If you’re maintaining the same fuel source—gas or electricity—the switchover should be smooth. A conventional tank requires open floor space, while a tankless model can be wall-mounted. If you’re switching to a tank water heater, you might need to clear space for it. Gas-powered tankless water heaters need a large volume of gas when they start running to heat the water instantly. You might need to increase the size of the gas line when going from a tank to a tankless model.
