"I've hired Maplewood Plumbing multiple times. They are super friendly, easy to schedule and they do good work. However, this last time that they came to my house, I needed them to fix an outdoor garden faucet that was leaking backwards into my basement and to help me get a spoon out of my garbage disposal, which I was completely unable to remove myself (ugh). The technician was great, as usual, but he quoted me $155 to remove the spoon from my disposal. I questioned that, at which point he said that he could give me a total price of $386 for everything. I agreed and he fixed everything (the spoon took about 10 secs for him to remove) and he charged me and left. I started thinking about the cost later that night and it seemed awfully high, but not knowing what went into the pipe fix (one of the pipes was cracked and had to be replaced) I wasn't really informed enough to make that judgement. I wrote and asked for an itemized receipt so that I could weigh the cost of the parts against the cost of the services for future reference and decisions around who to hire for repairs. I was given a blanket receipt that did not itemize the work. I asked for another version, where they could list out the cost of items versus the cost of services and was told: "Because we charge a flat rate per service, not by time and materials, we do not provide itemized invoices. The $386 covers time, materials, and the 6 month warranty included in the service." (Just as a side note, I have always received an itemized bill from them in the past.) So I asked if they could tell me what their flat-rate service charge is - how they arrived at their numbers, because I was quoted two different prices for the garbage disposal and the pipe. I was given the original receipt that just lumped everything together under the one cost. I'm hesitant to hire them again due to the fact that I need more transparency with service providers that I hire. I like to know what I'm paying for parts and what I'm paying for labor. If that is important to you as well, then you might want to look elsewhere. If you don't care about that sort of thing, then I would recommend them because I believe they do quality work."

"Service was excellent from Glen. Walked me through what he was looking at. Apparently the disposal was not on correctly. He quickly remediated the issue and provided me a quote if I wanted to replace it in the future. Would certainly hire this company again."

"I was impressed with the responsiveness after I contacted them via email. I sent an email later Sunday night and got a phone call at around 7 the next morning. We set up a time and the technician arrived within the window stated on Thursday. They couldn't get the job done that day. The technician lived close to me so we arranged for me to be the last appointment the following Thursday. I rearranged my schedule on that day to accommodate the later arrival. I get a call from the technician at 9:15am and they said they would be at my place later in the morning. I had to remind them of the arrangement made last week which was totally their idea. I'm not sure why they forgot about that. I got a call a little before 1:20pm stating they would be at my place after 3pm. I heard nothing until 5pm when they called stating they would be at my place in 20 minutes. They showed up an hour later. at 6pm. They called 20 minutes prior to apprise me they were in traffic in Manchester (surprise surprise). The dryer got fixed pretty quickly. The garbage disposal was another deal. After working on it a while, they had to go to the hardware store for something. They came back and worked on it some more. It was 8:45pm by this time when they said they would have to get another garbage disposal and install that. We made arrangements for them to come a third time tomorrow night. This has been way too complicated and it is taking way too long. I don't want to hire them again."

"Installed a garbage disposal in our bar sink, but was also able to help fix and inform us about another issue we were having under that sink with leaks every so often when the dishwasher was running. Not only was the quality of his work top notch, but he was also very respectful of the area he was working in. I say this because we’ve had issues in the past with other workers damaging fixtures or areas in the house near what they were actually working on and not telling us about it. He clearly takes a lot of pride in the work he is doing and it really shows. Couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out!!"

In most cases, appliance warranties do not transfer to new owners. However, some exceptions apply. To check the status of your appliance warranty and whether you can transfer it when you move, review the terms and conditions of your warranties or consult your home warranty service. When purchasing a new appliance or one from a previous owner, be sure to pay attention to its warranty status, including the type of coverage and any exclusions.
Yes, most states require plumbers to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Typically, most appliances last anywhere from 10 to 15 years, depending on the appliance, brand, and amount of use. Keeping a regular maintenance schedule, including cleaning and tune-ups, also helps appliances last longer. Dryers, gas stoves, and refrigerators tend to last the longest, averaging about 13 to 15 years. Microwaves and dishwashers tend to last about 10 years on average.
The cost of home appliances ranges from $350 to $8,000 or more, depending on the brand, type of appliance, and features. Additional cost factors include any hookups that need to be installed, such as gas, plumbing, or electrical. Keep in mind that major appliances, such as refrigerators, washers and dryers, and water heaters, will cost more than minor appliances, such as microwaves, due to the size, complexity, and essential nature of the item.
The average cost to hire a plumber is around $100 an hour but can vary between $45 and $200 an hour depending on the plumber’s experience and the repair that you need. It’s also important to note that these prices can go up on holidays, and emergency plumber rates average $150 per hour, in addition to a flat-rate trip fee of $100 to $350.
