"Randy was just awesome! He was very knowledgeable and very kind. I called him around 10 am after having a new refrigerator delivered. I explained that I needed some help with the water line that connects to the ice maker/water dispenser. He explained over the phone what likely needed to happen and then told me that he would get back with me in a couple of hours. I gave him my address and info and sure enough--2 hours later he comes, takes a look at what I need done, went to the hardware store, and bought what was needed. He then came back and installed everything and spent a good deal of time talking to me about installing our gutters. He's very friendly and I would not hesitate to call him again if we need work done on our house or remodeling. The quality of service we received definitely exceeded the price we paid to hire him. Randy, if you see this, thanks again very much for all of your help today!"

"Listens to your vision and provides feedback on what will and won't work. Makes suggestions on what could make your project even better. Very easy to work with. I am very satisfied with my custom kitchen cabinets. My husband and I had a vision and the end result was better than what I had imagined. Guests are always admiring our kitchen."

"I had a great experience working with Jorge. He was professional, punctual, and really knew what he was doing. He showed up on time, brought all the right tools, and finished the job quickly but with great attention to detail. I appreciated how he explained what needed to be done and made sure everything was clean and working perfectly before leaving. It’s hard to find someone this reliable and trustworthy these days — I’ll definitely be calling him again for future projects. Highly recommend"

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Kitchen cabinets can hold a whopping 500 pounds, but that is only possible if you attach them correctly. They must be anchored securely with long screws driven straight into the wall studs for solid support. Depending on your cabinets and the installer, some upper cabinets use specialized hanging systems or brackets for extra reinforcement, ensuring they stay put no matter how full they get.

The cost to install a kitchen island ranges from $900 to $6,500, with an average price of around $4,800. The final cost depends on whether you buy a prefabricated unit or have one custom-built. Prefabricated kitchen islands are generally cheaper. A simple prefabricated cart can cost between $150 and $900, while a permanent, stationary prefabricated island costs from $900 to $5,000. A custom-built kitchen island averages around $4,800 but can cost $10,000 or more depending on factors like materials, size, design complexity, and accessibility.

There are three primary ways to attach upper kitchen cabinets to a wall, and installers may use more than one method at a time. The most common method is to drive screws through the back of the cabinets and into studs in the wall behind. Sometimes cabinets are glued to the wall with strong adhesive. Often a combination of screws and adhesive is desirable. The last way is by hanging the cabinets on hardware brackets that attach to the wall before cabinet installation.

Durability and appearance are the two main drawbacks to installing budget kitchen cabinets, which are often made of less-durable wood or plastic. You're also limited to stock options, meaning you may have a small selection from which to choose.

On the plus side, you can always paint these more affordable kitchen cabinets to make them look the way you want.

It depends on whether you buy pre-made stacked cabinets or construct them from scratch. If you build added cabinets from scratch, you can expect it to take several hours or days to build each one and then another two to three days for installation. Then, after painting your new cabinets, you should allow a few weeks for the paint to dry thoroughly before installing them over your existing cabinets.
