"I hired Golden's Plumbing for a new toilet installation. The plumber, Gabe, misinstalled a toilet that I had purchased from the Home Depot. He then charged me for a 2nd toilet installation, again misinstalled, and I had to hire another plumbing company to install the toilet correctly."

Lowe’s has been helping our customers improve the places they call home for more than 60 years. Founded in 1946, Lowe’s has grown from a small hardware store to the second-largest home improvement retailer worldwide. Our story began in North Carolina, when Carl Buchan, part owner of the North Wilkesboro Hardware Company, envisioned creating a chain of hardware stores. He purchased the company from his brother-in-law and partner and had the foresight to anticipate a post-World War II building boom. By eliminating wholesalers and dealing directly with manufacturers, Lowe’s established a lasting reputation for low prices. Sales grew over time and we expanded all across the country and now operate stores not only in the United States, but also in Canada and Mexico. Although times have changed since Lowe’s first opened its doors in 1946, Lowe’s values have not— the company remains committed to offering high-quality home improvement products at everyday low prices, while delivering superior customer service. Seasonal Hours Mon-Sat 6 am-9pm Military Discount

"I placed an order online for more than $5,000 worth of kitchen remodeling supplies, which might be chump change to Lowe's but certainly isn't to me. The total was more than my bank would authorize without permission from me, so once I got it, Lowe's was supposed to debit the account THAT DAY. Did they? No, they waited a few days and the transaction got declined again. So what did they do? They CANCELED THE ORDER without even trying to contact me. I spent innumerable occasions on the phone at the store and on the 800 line, neither of which ever get answered by human beings and both of which involve interminable hold times and annoying recorded messages about how IMPORTANT your call is to them. Then their logistics people only brought me HALF of the order, although they charged me for all of it, of course. More time on the phone. Trying to split the order in half so it would go through my bank without permission. Trying to get the half they hadn't brought delivered with what was left. This involved GOING TO THE STORE IN PERSON to re-order the canceled items. Then they failed to show up three days in a row. Fortunately I'm working from home, but that doesn't make a difference to me. I'm sitting here right now, having received a text from logistics telling me they were one minute away ... twenty minutes ago ... and just before receiving the text I saw the truck DRIVE PAST MY HOUSE. Apparently reading street addresses isn't on the list of required vocational skills for their drivers. I'm on hold with the logistics call center, which is neither a toll free number NOR answered by a human being, with insipid piano music and intermittent assurances of how IMPORTANT my call is to them, even though they've left me on hold for more than ten minutes. Suffice it to say that once this order is finally delivered, Lowe's will never see another dime from me, ever, even on things I can carry out of their store myself. They obviously don't care enough about their customers to be worth bothering with."

Sterling Industries started in 2001 as a full service lawn and landscape company servicing customers like QuikTrip, American Century and many other high end commercial and residential clients. Over the years as the construction industry fell on hard times we took the opportunity to provide some of the many skilled craftsmen, looking for work, an opportunity to use their skills and help support their families. This team approach has helped us expand our services in many different directions. Over the years one constant has been our tireless determination to do whatever it takes to get the job done right. This is a family business and it has our name on it! Our reputation is extremely important to us and that is why it is especially rewarding that the yearly growth of our business has come from our many satisfied customers. Thanks for your consideration.

"Professional, Punctual, Friendly, Excellent Work! Seth climbed and removed a large dead limb from a difficult-to-get-to big maple tree, trimmed the remaining dead wood from other parts of the tree, and removed dead wood from a large oak in the front yard. The results were excellent. He and his helper arrived on time, did excellent work, cleaned up all debris, and left no trace that they had been there. These guys are the best!"

Playground Equipment questions, answered by experts

The cost of the materials to build a DIY playground will run you about $700 to $1,000, which could vary based on the type of lumber you choose to use. On the other hand, buying a pre-made playset costs $1,000 to $6,500 or more, and if you choose to have it professionally installed, you’ll pay an additional $330 to $700.

Whether building a playground or installing a pre-made one is more affordable depends on the materials of each. In most cases, it’s more affordable to build a wooden playground than it is to buy one and have it professionally installed, but it might be less expensive to invest in a pre-made plastic playground, even if you pay a professional to install it. Wooden playgrounds tend to last longer, but as children age, they will become less valuable. Overall, it may be most affordable to have a pro install a pre-made plastic playground.

Rubber mulch is widely considered the best material to place under a playset. This material option provides more cushioning than traditional wood mulch for added protection, remains cooler than sand and most other materials in direct sunlight, and it’s low maintenance. Rubber mulch is slightly more expensive than other common options at $120 per cubic yard on average, whereas pine bark mulch is $30 per cubic yard. But when it comes to your children’s safety, the investment is worthwhile. Consult your playground equipment installation company about material recommendations before starting this project.

For artificial turf that’s the most durable, look for heat-resistant products with thicker blades. Keep in mind that there’s a difference between artificial grass versus artificial turf, with turf consisting of a shorter look while artificial grass is longer and more closely resembles real grass.

It’s usually possible to install a playground yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Playground construction can be complicated and involves moving large, heavy, and bulky components into place while you affix them to other pieces. Not only is the work physically demanding, but any mistakes could reduce the lifespan of your playground and potentially put any children who use the equipment at risk of injury. It’s relatively inexpensive to hire a professional playground installer, and it’s usually worth the investment, if only for the peace of mind it provides.
