"This is the 3rd time we worked with Capital Siding Windows and Roofing and once again they were outstanding! The work was once again high quality work with courteous workers and good cleanup."
"Eagle Siding was great! They were communicative, diligent, and transparent. They did a phenomenal job with our siding - we’re still getting compliments. Highly recommend!"
"Impressive work! Ideal Siding did a great job removing our 50 year-old siding and making the place look new again with their installation. Great group to work with!!!"
"We had an insurance claim to replace our siding as it was storm damaged. From the first phone call I made to him, Scott from Lakewoods Remodeling was incredibly helpful. He was so knowledgeable and experienced with the entire insurance claim process and was always a step ahead. He was also so experienced with different types of siding and was able to lay out all the options in a simple manner without any pressure to up-sell and gave us great advice regarding color choice taking into consideration how we had to match the roof, soffits, fascia and brick. All of the work was done perfectly, with great attention to detail. It was very efficient and it was immediately cleaned up upon completion. Scott also helped us by noticing issues with our gutters and how cable is hooked up to our house and helped us fix these issues. They were not related to his work but he gave us guidance on how to fix them even though it gave him no benefit. At every step he and his crew were completely thorough, responsive, professional and just a pleasure to work with. We would definitely use them again."
"They performed a complete residing with James Hardie product. I had 4 companies I asked for estimates. From the minute I met Alex I had a feeling he was going to win this job. He followed up with everything I asked regarding questions and the location of prior siding jobs they had done. The crew was so professional and worked together seamlessly . Every time I interacted with one of them I was impressed with their professionalism and friendliness. I definitely would refer my friends and neighbors to use this company. Actually, the work speaks for itself as I have never met so many of my neighbors before. Instead of the usual friendly wave, they are introducing themselves and asking about my siding. A great experience."
"We highly recommend using Twin Cities Siding Professionals! It was an outstanding experience working with Troy and Jeff to replace our old, outdated siding with new beautiful vinyl siding! From the very start they were professional, friendly and they listened to our needs and never tried to oversell us like we experienced with other companies. The TC siding job crew did high quality work and got it done efficiently! Jeff and Troy were available to answer any of our questions the entire time. We will be recommending TC Siding to all of our friends and family and look forward to using them on any jobs we need in the future!!"
"I hired Joe (owner) and his team to replace my old masonsite siding with new vinyl, and install new gutters. Joe was transparent from our first interaction and listened to what I wanted. When they started the job I was surprised to see Joe helping his crew and working alongside his team, making sure everything was done perfectly. His team was professional, efficient, and very accommodating always asking permission if they could stay late, come early, or if I was okay if they stopped by on the weekend. Even with rain they worked quickly and made me feel like a priority. With my house being old there were a few things I didn’t prepare for, such as crumbling brick but Joe was quick to call it out and offer a solution at a reasonable cost. So glad I chose TD Roofing and Remodeling, very happy with how my house looks!"

"Our customer representative Matt from Craftsmans was far the most knowledgeable and considerate among all the companies we considered, his flexibility, consideration and overall value were the main factors in our decision. We have referred family and friends to Cratsman for multiple projects, including windows, siding, etc, the consistent theme in selecting Craftsman are knowledge, flexibility and value. I referred my own daughter and that says a lot!"
Siding and cladding are two popular exterior wall coverings that protect homes from the elements and provide insulation, but they differ in design and application. Siding is applied directly to a home’s exterior, providing some insulation and basic shielding from the elements. In contrast, cladding is installed indirectly over furring strips, creating a ventilated air gap for enhanced insulation and moisture control.

You should restain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and ensure maximum protection. The precise frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, the siding's exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the condition of the wood.
Homeowners in harsh climates with high humidity and significant direct sunlight should plan on restaining every three years, while those in milder locations can wait up to seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh environments, consider using an opaque stain.
If you're looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, vinyl or aluminum siding are options to consider. Although their installation cost may be higher, they don't require as much upkeep over time, which can provide more value, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.
The main differences between dutch lap versus clapboard siding have to do with their design and texture. Clapboard siding features flat, beveled planks stacked at a slight angle, offering a simple, traditional look. Dutch lap siding features a subtly concave surface along with a notch that creates a shadowed look between the boards. This eye-catching design often resembles wood grain and introduces a noticeable shadow line, making it more visually interesting compared to the simpler look of clapboard siding.
Some homeowners use caulk on the edges of clapboard siding to help seal it. However, this method invites new problems. With so many gaps sealed, clapboard siding is often unable to drain properly and moisture from rain or other sources can build up inside. This can lead to rot and other issues over time. When repairing clapboards, it’s best to avoid caulking the final product. The exception is trim around windows and doors, which should be caulked to avoid moisture problems.
