"Exactly as the same as the first time I air sealed my attic in my previous house. Last year when we decided to sell our house I was inspecting my house as I would have if I was purchasing it. I noticed a small (1/4") gap between the master bathroom vent fan grill and the ceiling. I could not adjust it. Upon further inspection I realize it was because the foam that was installed when my attic was air sealed had expanded creating the 1/4" gap. I had that work done two years prior by Houle Insulation. I contacted Arne and inquired if he had any suggestions. His only suggestion was that he would correct the problem. Two days later he had two workers in my attic correcting the issue. Just like the first time, they were prompt and cleaned up after the work. I offered to pay, he would not have it. He said he should have noticed when the job was originally completed two years prior. There was no discussion or haggling, he simply said he would correct it. As impressed as I was with the lower energy bill, I was more impressed with how he and his team comported themselves. Also my house was more comfortable because the temperature was more uniform within my house. This year when we moved into our new house, built in 1992, the first thing I did was call Arne to air seal the attic. My choice of whom to hire for air sealing my attic was a no brainer, Houle Insulation. They also performed a blower door test. They also sent in all the information required for me to receive an energy rebate from my utility company. The best recommendation I can make is that when I decided to air seal our new home the first person I called was Arne. He made a wise decision to correct what needed with correcting without any questions. He did what should have been done, and therefore he got my repeat business and I was happy to give my business to him!"

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Koala Insulation of St. Paul for the installation of 4 inches of spray foam insulation in my garage attic, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the results. From the outset, Koala Insulation impressed me with their professionalism and expertise. Their team was punctual, arriving on time for the initial consultation and installation. They took the time to explain the benefits of spray foam insulation, including its superior air sealing properties and energy efficiency compared to traditional insulation materials. This thorough approach gave me confidence in my decision. On installation day, the crew was efficient and respectful of my home. They came fully prepared with all the necessary equipment, and I appreciated their attention to cleanliness. They took care to cover areas that needed protection, minimizing any mess during the installation process. The actual application of the spray foam was quick and straightforward, and the team worked collaboratively to ensure a high-quality finish. After the installation, the team provided useful guidance on maintaining the insulation and what to expect in terms of performance. They made themselves available for any follow-up questions, which shows their commitment to customer satisfaction even after the job was completed. I highly recommend Koala Insulation of St. Paul for anyone considering an insulation project, including upgrading or replacing your current fiberglass insulation. Their timely service, knowledgeable staff, and high-quality workmanship resulted in a seamless experience will undoubtedly improved my home's comfort and energy efficiency as we head into the cold season. If you're looking to enhance your insulation, look no further â Koala Insulation is a solid choice!"

"Alex bid out the spray foam job and it was fair. Work was done in two weeks and the crew did a great job and kept the garage clean and for the most part kept the foam out of the areas where it shouldn’t be. Will definitely hire again."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Knowing what causes drywall damage can help stop it before it starts. Here are some of the most common causes of drywall damage:

  • Water damage from roof leaks or leaky pipes.

  • Small holes caused by doorknobs, minor accidents, and rodent infestations.

  • Wall dents stemming from moving furniture and minor accidents.

  • Wall cracks that form from a settling foundation or seismic activity.

  • Nail pops from nails and screws in the walls.

  • Large holes that are caused by accidents with heavy objects, children and pets, or sporting equipment.

Many homeowners choose to install tongue and groove over drywall. The great thing about this type of ceiling is that it hides imperfections. If your drywall is a little bit wonky or has some minor damage, the tongue and groove planks should cover it and give it an even appearance. Installation is simplest if you install battens over the existing framing before installing your tongue and groove planks.

You should start looking for a drywall installer by choosing a local company with positive online reviews and ratings with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Next, confirm that the professional is properly licensed using Angi’s contractor licensing tool, and ask the installer if they are fully insured. It’s a good idea to ask for recent customer references and call them to get their honest opinion about the contractor and their work. You can also ask the installer if they guarantee their work or provide a workmanship warranty.

With its breathability and flexibility, lime plaster is among the most durable of all plaster types. It's also fire-resistant and has a proven track record, as people have been using it for thousands of years.

However, all plaster types will last for many years with the right care and treatment. Proper preparation and installation will also help ensure your plaster walls look great for as long as possible.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.
