"We had Garden Structures & More add onto the beautiful privacy fence they had previously built for us, and we couldn't be happier with the final result. Our new and improved fence is even better than we had envisioned due to owner/designer/craftsman Hal's excellent ideas. All work was completed in a timely and professional manner. We truly enjoyed working with Hal and wouldn't hesitate to have him do our next home project. "

"Everything was good about my experience except for the cost. I was in a hurry to either get my original toilet repaired or replaced as it had a small leak. This gentleman contacted me right away after I put in a request for a plumber through Home Advisor. I never heard from anyone else. He promptly came out and told me I was better off replacing the original toilet and that he could do it for $850. He left to get the new toilet and then texted me and said he made a mistake and the cost would be $900. He spenet about an hour here replacing it. He was very friendly but I had the feeling that he was price gouging me. I later had another plumber come out for a different issue and asked him how much he would charge to replace a different toilet in my house, but with the same brand the other guy installed. His price was $650."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

The cost depends on the parts, labor, extent of damage, and whether extensive plumbing modifications are required. Typical repairs cost $150-$300.

If a toilet is not properly vented, you could experience issues like poor drainage, slow flushing, frequent clogs, malfunctioning traps, gurgling noises, and the release of sewer gasses. If left untreated, all of these issues could lead to longer term structural damage or (in the case of sewer gasses) harmful health side effects.

The normal water level in a toilet bowl is about halfway full. The water should sit above the P trap drain because this creates a seal and suction. When you flush the toilet, the suction keeps sewer gases from entering your house through your toilet. Anytime the water level is higher or lower than half full, you need to make adjustments or replace broken parts.

Yes, you can install a basement bathroom without breaking concrete by using an upflush toilet system, which includes a macerator pump. These systems sit on top of the concrete floor, so you don't have to drill into it to install plumbing. The macerator pump breaks up waste until it is soft enough to pass through a discharge pipe to the main sewage line. This method saves you time and money by bypassing the need to break concrete to connect drain pipes.
