"The workmanship appears excellent and it was built per plan. I asked for a small change in the steps and they did it without complaint and in a timely manner. The builders were punctual and pleasant to work with. Their price was not the highest or the lowest, but I never go with the lowest bid."

Our project took place in four phases - 1) Design, 2) Tear off,  3) Hardie Board siding and 4) Stonework.
The most difficult part of the process for us was the design work. Despite working with Barrier's designer, who helped us select stone that would work with the style of our home and the color siding we were considering, our plan came together after Garen's suggestion to buy paint samples of the color siding we were considering. We were going from a drab, off-white stucco board to Hardie Boothbay Blue (a dramatic change for us) and for some reason, the designer's drawings didn't work as well as slapping the paint on part of the existing exterior and standing back to look at it during different lighting levels throughout the day.
Once we had the design finalized, tear off took place the end of August and took a day. The crew was fantastic - our front yard stayed neat and the dumpster was off set on our drive way so we could continue to get cars in the garage - and they were able to answer any questions we had about what would happen when.
The Hardie Board, which went on the second story of our home and across a front porch and attached garage, took about three days to install. We had selected a shake style for the second story and lap siding across the garage and front porch. The finished siding exceeded our expectations in how it looked from the front, as well as how nice it looked where it butted up against the existing siding on the sides of our home.
The stonework was last and took two days to complete. The product that arrived looked like what we had selected (I worried because I've heard stories about how they can be different assortments than what you see in the sample).
Once the project was complete Garen had us look everything over for a final walk-through. We had three minor punch list items to fix and these were noted and promptly addressed.
All in all, everyone from our newspaper delivery man to the neighbors have commented on how nice our home looks. This was a 1984 traditional two story with a shallow front sloping roof and no interest to speak of. Barrier helped us give it some visual interest and we are very, very happy with the end result.

"We had the front of our house and garage done last year, wonderful! This year we had the other three sides of the house done with steel siding. Jason was very professional and helpful with both projects. He helped us with colors and was very honest with things we wanted done.Thank you! Tim and his siding crew were wonderful! They finished all three sides in three days! Very hard working crew! They definitely payed attention to detail. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this company. They go out of there way to make things right! Love my house! Thank you!"

"Let me say, there are fencing companies, and then, there is Garden Structures & More.  You really cannot even begin to compare the two.  Hal is a top-notch craftsman from start to finish.  This was not a typical fencing job, where sections are brought in, posts are set into the ground and the sections attached to the posts.  This was an entirely different experience.  The fence was built on site, board by board.  The vertical boards in the lattice actually go all the way down to the bottom of the fence. Of course, doing it that way requires a bit of a mathematical genius, when you are dealing with different width boards in between the lattice boards-- especially when you get into the corners where sections need to be a different width from the standard size. I also realized how much care was taken in dealing with the slight level differences in my yard. Hal was careful to make adjustments when possible, so that the top line of the fence remained level, even though the ground did not.  It is sturdier than any fence I've ever seen, and the attention to detail is wonderful.  Every side of each board is routered to give it a softer edge.  The posts don't need a cap.  The tops are routered the same as the rest of the fence, and they look simple and clean, a lovely complement to the clean lines of the fence as a whole.  The double gate with arbor is really beautiful.  I'm not a fan of black hardware, and Hal supplied some beautiful stainless that looks so much nicer.  Hal started right on schedule, and ended exactly when he said he would.  And, he is very thoughtful.  Not only did he build me a beautiful fence, but he put up a bird feeder that I hadn't gotten around to doing myself, and even brought my garbage cans into the garage on garbage day!  In the days since the fence was completed, I have received many compliments on the fence and arbors from people walking by.  And, they have also commented on what a nice crew installed my fence-- that it seemed like a great group of guys.  I would use Garden Structures and More again, in a heartbeat.  It was a great experience!

"In 2015, Greene installed an egress window. I was very happy with their work and their company. In 2016, I got their bid to install new storm windows on my house. They also measured and gave me a bid to put new siding on my garage, even though I had only mentioned this in passing and I told them I was not ready to have that done for another year or two. After waiting several months, into the cold weather, without hearing anything about my storm windows, I inquired and got a short, curt email back saying the company was over booked and under staffed and they would not be able to install my storm windows, and that I should get a handyman. Needless to say, I am having to go through another window with my old, non-functioning storm windows."

Garages questions, answered by experts

Hearing or feeling vibrations in your house can be unsettling, but there are a few possible causes for a vibrating noise in your wall or floor. Light bulbs and fixtures, circuit breakers, loose pipes, or faulty wiring could all cause vibrations. If you’re not sure what’s causing the vibrations, you can call a contractor to assess your home and narrow down the cause.

Incorporating garage disinfection into your annual household cleaning routine is essential. Your garage constitutes a significant segment of your home and necessitates comparable attention to cleanliness, much like other living spaces. This becomes particularly vital since garages frequently remain overlooked and accumulate dirt and dust over time due to the tendency to fill up with old furniture, sporting equipment, boxes, and more.

You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. If you’re using cellulose or some other type of blown-in insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool are common), you will need drywall to contain the insulation material.

Yes, with sustainable wood products and high-efficiency lighting options.

You should let your initial paint job dry at least 12 hours before opening the door. Check your work after 12 hours have passed to confirm there are no uneven patches, or signs of the old paint showing though—if you see any, we recommend applying a second coat of paint and waiting an additional 12 hours for it to dry.
