"(Same review I wrote on Google). From my first contact (via Angi), Local Motion has been a superb working partner for my move. Tony set it up and was a breeze to work with. Billie coordinates the logistics for move day and provided great detailed instructions and top notch service overall. Each time I called with questions she was ready with help immediately. My move crew, led by Trey with two others, Ken and Dujuan, were funny and friendly, hard working, great at on-site problem solving, and got the packing and moving done in just over 6 hours, which was at the low even of expected time. While I hope I do t have to move again soon, when I do I will use Local Motion very happily! They did top notch work at an extremely reasonable price so that it was worth every penny!"

"This company moved my belongings from McKinney Texas to Chicago Illinois a couple of months ago. The guys packed our one bedroom apartment very professionally and quickly. I would recommend this company to my friends."

"Very smooth move with these movers. They gave me the lowest quotation so I went with them for the move. They disassembled and wrapped everything carefully, so nothing was scratched. They were very quick, only took a few hours to move our whole apt. The final price ended up being near the estimate so I was satisfied!"

"Movers were friendly and nice to work with. However scratched floors in both homes and there were bangs in door frames, didn?t bring the quoted vehicle and to go back for a second load which cost us another $100."

Moving questions, answered by experts

Many Minnetonka homeowners underestimate the impact of local parking restrictions, especially in cul-de-sacs or near lakes. Weather can cause sudden delays, and local HOAs may require advance notice or restrict moving truck access. Storage needs are often greater for larger homes, and climate-controlled storage is essential for sensitive items during MN winters. Coordinating school transfers and timely utility hookups also requires extra attention.

Helpful?

In Minnetonka, moving large items can impact radiant floor heating, wood floors, or built-in shelving common in local homes. Disconnecting appliances may disrupt smart thermostats or security systems, especially in newer properties. If you have a split-level home, check for possible effects on HVAC vents or water lines. Always coordinate with your moving company to prevent accidental utility disruptions or system malfunctions.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Minnetonka often balance the convenience of full-service moving companies with the flexibility of DIY options, especially given the city’s unique neighborhood layouts and local parking rules. Scheduling a move during peak summer months offers easier access and less risk of weather delays, but can mean limited availability. Winter moves are less competitive but require careful planning for icy driveways and potential neighborhood restrictions.

Helpful?

A successful move in Minnetonka is reflected by undamaged hardwood floors, no scuffs on walls or trim, and all utilities functioning as expected. Sensitive items, like electronics or artwork, should be properly acclimated to MN’s climate. Furniture should be reassembled and placed according to your layout. Compliance with HOA rules, proper waste removal, and a detailed inventory checklist are strong signs of a thorough moving service.

Helpful?

After moving in Minnetonka, inspect floors, HVAC, and all utility connections within the first month. Each fall, check weatherproofing and heating systems. In winter, monitor for ice buildup and moisture near entryways. Spring is ideal for assessing outdoor areas and addressing any landscaping damage. Summer is best for deep cleaning and evaluating air conditioning. Annual professional inspections help keep your home’s systems in top condition.
