"Our experience with Nic at Arko was top notch. He was personable, friendly and listened to what we wanted to have completed on our project. Throughout the project, he communicated well and often. Overall, we are satisfied with the final outcome of our roof being redone. The 5 stars is for Nic, I wish I could rate different aspects of our experience differently. For the crew, I'd probably give 2 to 3 stars. They laid tarps out around our house and garage, however it was windy that day and they didn't weigh them down, so they blew around and a lot of tear-off material ended up in our landscaping rock, which goes all around the house. We picked up over 200 nails when they were all done with their cleanup, which included using a leaf blower to blow off patio and driveway and blew the nails and slate into the rock, which pretty much buried the nails in the rocks since the rocks were blown around as well. When we called Nic about this, he sent Wyatt to come out with a magnet and was very thorough in the grass areas around house and found quite a few more nails. He was also very polite and friendly. In the past months since the work has been completed, we are still finding random nails and I'm sure we will find more over the years as the rocks shift. Another issue we had was when the crew was loading the shingle packs onto the roof, they were dropping them from waist level, rather then bending and setting them down. I understand they are heavy, but we now have squeaks in our house where we didn't before. It shook and rattled the house like they were going to come through the roof. We brought our concerns to Nic and he was going to relay them to the correct people. I hope its been addressed and future customers won't have the same problems. A few days after roof was done, we had a very hard rain with wind. There was some water in our garage by our furnace. Nic came out the same day and spent a large amount of time trying to figure out where it had come from. He was very thorough and took lots of pictures, went in attic of garage and on the roof. We determined it was from the wind blowing the rain sideways and through the exhaust pipe. It hasn't happened since so I am comfortable with that determination."

Hello, my name is Jacob Huelsenbeck. I'm an independent tile setter, remodeler, and owner of Tile & More. I have been working in the tile industry for almost a decade now and pride myself on precision and communication. I have worked with residential and commercial jobs that involved tile and ceiling texture services. I have experience with temporary partnering with sub-contractors that require the abilities that I detail. Projects that consist of a Taco Bell drinking fountain station and an Aldi ground floor. I pride myself on cleanliness and make sure my station and task are free of any residue from the process. Residential: Backsplashes Showers Bathtubs Floors Commercial: Bathrooms Drinking Stations Ground Floors
"Jacob was hire because he was cheap from craigslist. The tile work looked ok at first. But after the first use, we found the shower leaked through the floor into the kitchen ceiling. Water everywhere. He only answered his phone once after that. He wouldn't come back to repair the damage. Wouldn't pay for any of the repairs. The whole project ended up costing us over twice what we wanted. The shower had to be completely redone and kitchen ceiling had to be torn down and replaced."

"My neighbor told me about Patrick and we’re glad he did. We moved to a new home that needed a flooring update throughout. The job required removal of carpet, matching new hardwood to existing hardwood, sanding, trim and finish. The amount of demo and detail work to create the new floor was extensive. It was a treat to watch the work-in-progress and the final result was simply amazing. Patrick and Chelsea exceeded expectations and we are happy to endorse Third Generation for any and all flooring solutions. I also want to mention the bedrooms, closets and entry hall finished with engineered maple hardwood….the cherry on top. If you need flooring call Patrick! You won’t be disappointed."

The cost of flooring installation is $3,000 for the average homeowner. This cost can range from $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the project size, flooring material, and any special features. For example, if stairs need new flooring, you can expect to pay about $11 to $160 per step. Additionally, hardwood flooring costs significantly more than linoleum, with hardwood ranging from $6 to $22 per square foot and linoleum costing $3 to $7 per square foot.
Believe it or not, adding new flooring—especially floors like hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl—can add significant value to your home. If you update your flooring close to when you sell your home, you can see up to a 70% ROI on your new floors. Adding new flooring to your home is one of the quickest ways to make the whole room look refreshed and new, which is a positive point for selling.
While you certainly can install new flooring yourself, it may not always be the best idea. Since the condition of the floors is a significant component of your property’s value, it’s important that your project looks professionally done. If not, you run the risk of needing to have them replaced again before selling your home. If you’re looking to save money on the cost of floor installation, consider removing the old flooring yourself to save on labor costs.
When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
It takes about one to three days for a two-person crew to lay 800 to 1,000 square feet of flooring daily. Remember that removal of existing flooring and additional prep work is considered during this time, and it’s likely that you won’t be able to pass through the room easily. In addition, you can expect lots of hammering and other noise from power tools during installation, so it’s best to plan accordingly.
