"What a mess. Brian Cipala should be ashamed of himself for awful work he did on our driveway. The tear out crew came unannounced on the weekend before the scheduled date while we were away in one of our car but when we got home we had to get our other car out of the garage over the rubble and a twelve inch drop. They also damaged our flower beds and smashed the adjoining lawn. That was just the beginning. The order was written incorrectly and we had to work hard to get him to even remember the things he'd agreed to. The worst was yet to come. They botched the pouring and the finish was mottled and some obvious mistake happened where they ran out of concrete and made an awful looking patch work. The finish was obviously wrong and Brian argued that it just needed to cure. He eventually conceded to the problem and made several ill fated efforts to remedy his mess. He did work hard to undo the mess but in the end he declared it done and demanded full payment. The driveway looked bad from the start and has only gotten worse. I recently saw he did a neighbor driveway and it has some of the same problems/"

If the moisture level in your concrete flooring is higher than what is acceptable for your primer or flooring materials, then you are looking at dealing with major flooring issues down the road. From mold and mildew, to warping, buckling, bubbling, and soft spots, you could see a wide range of moisture-induced problems.

These issues can affect not just your flooring but your foundation too. That is why measuring moisture in concrete is so important before starting a project.

Epoxy coatings for concrete basement or garage floors are popular. These two-part resinous coatings are waterproof and highly durable, making them an ideal choice for high-traffic spaces or areas where spills are likely. However, epoxy flooring costs more to apply than concrete stains and doesn't produce a natural-looking finish.

A paver patio will add more value than a concrete patio. Pavers are a more commonly preferred option from an aesthetic and longevity point of view, so most buyers will be willing to pay more for a paver patio than they would for a concrete one. Pavers also don’t require a permanent foundation, so they won’t increase your property taxes. Buyers also prefer lower property taxes, so that will play into the ROI you’ll see, too.

Pervious concrete should be between 4 and 8 inches thick to drain water properly. Surfaces like parking lots and driveways should be at least 6 inches thick to accommodate the weight of vehicles, while patios and walkways may be poured between 4 and 6 inches thick. There’s no standard for pervious concrete thickness, but in most cases, the more weight the surface will need to hold, the thicker it should be.

Concrete dries faster in the heat than in the cold, but when concrete cures too fast, it can cause weak concrete. It’s best to pour concrete when temperatures are between 50 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit, watering it five to 10 times per day for seven days (unless you pour concrete in the winter). Slower cure times, such as when pouring concrete in cold weather, can cause strong concrete, but you need to monitor the temperature drop and moisture levels. Avoid pouring concrete when temperatures are below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
