"Niola did a complete reupholstery of our large and expensive sectional couch. New fabric and cushions. Excellent workmanship. Manuel was very knowledgeable and helpful through the entire process. Couldn’t be happier with the result. We like it better than the original."

"Manuel did an excellent job repairing an Ethan Allen chair my puppy got into while I was away. After it was returned you could never even tell there was any damage. The price for the level of craftsmanship was extremely fair. Would recommend Manuel and will use him for any upholster job in the future."

"Michelle at Premier did a great job of educating me on how to care for my 20+-year-old leather coat, on what needed to be done to renew it, and cleaned it so it was almost like new. She also took over cleaning a fine Italian wool jacket I sent her, and even found buttons to replace ones on the sleeve that had fallen off She's professional, prompt, and gets the job done! I have no worries when I send my clothes to her in Calif from Wyoming (because we have no comparable specialty cleaners here)."

"Template directions get sent thru snail-mail, you mark up the template and provide dimensions. Send off in pre-paid mailer and wait about 3 weeks to receive the pads.
The pads are thick and nicely crafted. They fit perfectly and are a great replacement for the 60-year old ones that needed to go. My only complaint is that the "textured wood" finish looks incredibly fake and plasticy. I would prefer a felt, leather, or some other option that didn't look so cheap.

"Weâ ve had Walt work on three pieces of furniture for us, all beautifully done. The price seemed a bit high, but you definitely get what you pay for. If you have a piece of furniture that you love, but it needs some professional TLC, talk to Walt. It may take several months, but well worth the wait."

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Reupholstering an old or antique chair can be worthwhile if the frame is still sturdy and the piece has sentimental or monetary value. Reupholstery often costs less than buying a high-quality new chair, and you can customize the look. However, extensive repairs or rare fabrics may increase the total cost.

To safeguard your furniture and upholstered items, it's best to use plastic wrap or specially-made plastic sofa covers. However, you should avoid wrapping wooden furniture in plastic if you plan on storing it, as plastic can trap moisture and warp the wood, plus it may damage certain finishes. In either case, old blankets or moving blankets make excellent alternatives. For protecting delicate glass table tops and mirrors, bubble wrap is always a reliable choice.

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

If your usually super soft couch feels crusty and rough after cleaning, it could be that you haven’t removed the cleaning product properly, you used too much, or you applied the wrong type. Always check the couch tags to select the right cleaning product, read application instructions carefully, and test on an inconspicuous corner. For fabrics such as microfiber, you can soften and fluff crusty fibers using a soft-bristled brush.

Costs depend on fabric choice, furniture size, cushioning, and labor. For significant projects, expect estimates between $350 and $1,200.
